LAS VEGAS (Casinos.com) – Well now it’s official. Las Vegas Mayor Shelley Berkley has signed a proclamation declaring May 15, 2025, as International Casinos Day – a new holiday honoring the global impact casinos have had on entertainment, culture and community.

We just got advance notice and a digital copy.

International Casinos Day proclamation from Shelley Berkley

As you may have heard – or deduced from our bountiful awards pages – there’s been a growing movement spearheaded by Casinos.com to recognize the role of casinos not just as gaming destinations, but as multifaceted economic engines and cultural landmarks.

The date, May 15, is also Las Vegas’ birthday. The city turns 120 this year.

The inaugural International Casinos Day will coincide with the launch of the International Casino Awards, a sprawling 100+ category celebration honoring excellence in categories such as Best Regional Casino, Best Casino Restaurant, Best Casino Performance Venue, and even a nod to design and comfort with the Royal Flush Award for Best Casino Bathrooms.

Though born in Las Vegas, the initiative has global aspirations. Players and casino enthusiasts from all over the world can participate in the awards voting at Casinos.com.

In a video produced ahead of the announcement, Casinos.com hit the Strip to ask visitors what casinos mean to them. From jackpots to job offers, birthdays to bachelor parties, the responses underscore the powerful role casinos play in people’s lives ... and why we're excited about this day to celebrate it all.
