Burgers worth betting on! We listed the top-reviewed casino burgers in the U.S. (Image: Casinos.com)
Guys, we can’t believe it. Our boss just came to us and asked us to write an article about the best burger at any casino destination in the whole of the US. We’d almost finished packing our bags already when we realized that it was a Tripadvisor article, and we weren’t actually going to go on a country-wide road trip to find the best burger in America. Maybe one day.
We’re not too surprised that out of all the foods in the world, this article is about burgers. According to statistics, over 50 billion hamburgers are consumed in America each year. That’s not a typo - billion is the real figure. The average American is said to eat about three hamburgers every week.
But as we’re sure you know, not all burgers are the same and some have to stand out from the crowd. We wanted to find the best burgers at casinos for delicious eats and the chance to win some real money. What’s not to like?
If you’re a bit of a burger connoisseur (like us), you no doubt know your McDonald’s from your Gordon Ramsay Burger. If you’re from the East Coast, you’re probably already planning your next trip to Vegas, not for the gambling, but for In-N-Out Burger. But which casino actually has the best burger in the whole country?
We looked at Tripadvisor reviews, to see which casinos had the most mentions of some delicious keywords. The more mentions of words like “best burger,” “juicy burger,” or “excellent burger,” the better.
These are the casinos we looked at, if you can even read them through all the watering your mouth is probably doing by now:
If we’re being honest, we were extremely disappointed to see the casino that came top of the list. It was the Mirage in Las Vegas. Why is that an issue? Well, because it’s GONE! Due to be replaced by the Hard Rock Hotel at some point in the future, when they get around to building it, but we highly doubt the burgers will be coming back.
Anyway, over 1,000 people mentioned the word “burger,” and “best burger” came up more than 300 times. We won’t go into tons of detail here, but apparently the burger in question was from a place called Snacks, depending on who you ask. RIP, Mirage Volcano.
So, if we stick to casinos that you can actually visit without a time machine, Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino in New York comes out on top. This one received a rating of 8.11% on our scale, with 171 keyword mentions. 34 reviews even called out the words “great burger.” Seneca Casino has a number of dining options, including Italian and Asian cuisine, and several bars.
Choctaw Casino Resort did very well too, coming in at third place. There were 85 keyword mentions, resulting in a total rating of 7.27%. There seem to be a few different places to get a burger at Choctaw Casino, including Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen + Bar. In fact, there are more than 20 eateries, so burgers shouldn’t be in short supply at all!
According to one review, “My favorite place to eat in Durant is the Blue Moon Cafe. Their "Oklahoma Burger" is one of the best I have ever had. Give it a try!”
We knew a Las Vegas burger had to be near the top of the scale somewhere, and we weren’t at all surprised to find that it was Planet Hollywood, home of Gordon Ramsay Burger. Also, home of the dearly departed PBR Rock Bar. Home of Ketchup Bar. We could continue. But don’t take our word for it; let’s see what the people over at Tripadvisor had to say.
189 reviews used the words “best burger,” which sure sounds promising. “Had wings and onion rings for the first time and both were delicious! Still one of the best burgers I’ve had. Highly recommend!” said one review, although unhelpfully it didn’t actually specify where this was.
Another review said, “I ordered the Hell's Kitchen burger, the best burger I've ever had,” which is big praise for Gordon!
If you’re headed to Connecticut, Mohegan Sun is the best place to get a burger, according to Tripadvisor reviews. There were 2,333 burger-related keywords here, resulting in a total rating of 6.18%. This casino has over 4,000 slots, 300 table games, a hotel, a golf course, an arena… so it stands to reason that there would also be a pretty good burger in the mix.
According to one review, “We had a blast in the casino which never closes and we had an AMAZING burger at Bobby Flay's burger restaurant. BEST BURGER OF ALL TIME!” Did you hear that? [insert Kanye at the VMAs voice] “of all time!”
Unfortunately, we can’t give you the exact price, but odds are it’s in the $8 to $9 range—just like the rest of our burger lineup.
If we were to go a little rogue and look at the absolute number of keyword mentions rather than the percentage, we’ve already covered the top two: the Mirage and Planet Hollywood. But third on the list would be another Las Vegas favorite: the Paris Hotel and Casino. This one got over 1,300 mentions of one of our burger-related keywords, but the percentage was just 3.41%. But shall we dig in anyway? Excuse the pun.
One review said, “We only ate in the burger joint, which was delicious. Seriously, the best hamburger I have had in ages.” It seems to be Bobby Flay’s burger restaurant that got called out the most times.
What about the other side of the scale? Are there any specific casinos where you should just avoid the burgers at all costs?
The casino that came right at the bottom of our list was the Bellagio in Las Vegas. Can you believe it? You pay all that money to stay in a VIP casino, and there’s no decent burger in sight? The Bellagio only got 69 keyword mentions out of a whopping 13,000+ reviews, resulting in a rating of just 0.51%.
“It cost $50.00, including tip, for a burger and iced tea,” said one very unhappy reviewer. Another lamented that “Sadelle’s was the biggest issue. The burger was greasy and bland and the bun it was on was rock hard.” Yikes.
But the fact that you can go to any number of nice restaurants overlooking the famous fountains kind of makes up for the lack of a decent burger, in our opinion.
Next! Atlantis Casino Resort in South Virginia came second from the bottom of our oh-so-auspicious list. Sadly, only 14 people used the word “best burger,” and overall the casino got a rating of 0.52% on our scale.
Usually “slightly better than the Bellagio” would be a big compliment, but alas, not this time. We were keen to find out exactly what was wrong with the burgers at this place, but there were very few mentions.
We found one review that said, “One of us had the Western Burger (plenty of meat, but could have used more salt/seasoning).” It’s not a shining endorsement, but it doesn’t sound too bad, if we’re honest.
Third from the bottom is Harrah's, but don’t worry, it’s the one in Iowa, not the Vegas property (which is precisely a six-minute walk from In-and-Out Burger). Harrah's in Council Bluffs got a destitute rating indeed, with just 0.68% on our scale.
The casino isn’t the biggest, with 600 slots and 13 table games, but it does promise dining options, and in our opinion that should definitely include a couple of burger joints. One unhappy reviewer said, “My food order of beef patties for THE DOG WERE BURNED AND THE DOG WOULD NOT EAT THEM.” Ouch.
Achieving the dubious honor of coming fourth from the bottom of the list, we have the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, like the Bellagio, is one of the more premium properties, so it’s not surprising that there’s no White Castle in the building. One might still expect to find a decent burger, but that's not the case.
Only 14 reviews out of almost 2,000 even mentioned the word “burger,” resulting in a rating of just 0.7% for the Cosmo. Even when burgers were mentioned, most reviews complimented Holsteins, which - like the Mirage - is now gone.
If we may recommend an alternative to a burger, head to Secret Pizza for a delicious slice, or take yourself off to the Buffet, where the options are endless.
Rounding out our bottom five, Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, didn’t do particularly well, with only 147 keyword mentions in more than 18,000 reviews. That’s a score of just 0.91%. Yikes.
Do they even have burgers at all? One person lamented arriving late in the evening, keen for some food, only to find that the “cafe burns your tasteless burger so no option there.”
Another called out pricey food options, but a few reviews did commend the tasty burger at the Salt & Ivy restaurant. Despite the dubious burger rating, this casino promises over 1,200 slots plus a luxurious hotel, nightlife, and even a spa, so it might still be worth visiting.
An (dis)honorable mention here goes to Harrah’s New Orleans, which only got four keyword mentions overall, but that worked out to a total rating of 0.96%. Out of all the reviews, just one person used the word “good burger,” and one said “great burger.”
On the plus side, Harrah’s New Orleans has actually been rebranded to Caesars New Orleans recently, so hopefully their burger offering got a refresh too, and we’ll see them nearer to the top of the list one day soon.
Most Extravagant Burger Pick: Truffle Smash
Two juicy quarter-pound patties layered with rich truffle cheese, caramelized onions, pickles, and garlic aioli, served with a side of decadent au jus for dipping. Celebrating? Add seared foie gras for an additional charge.
One note: Price is not available online. Ouch.
Most Extravagant Burger Pick: Classic Beef Tartare
While Bazaar Meat is far from a traditional burger joint, it’s often ranked among the best casino restaurants in Las Vegas, and their take on beef is nothing short of legendary.
Instead of burgers, they serve amazing tartares.
Our pick is Classic Beef Tartare: finely chopped sirloin mixed with mustard, egg yolks, and anchovies, served with warm bread rolls. On the menu, you can read about how this dish traces its roots to Escoffier’s 1921 guidebook. Tasty, fancy and educational? Sounds high-end to us.
Most Extravagant Burger Pick: Wagyu Steakhouse Burger
A half-pound of Wagyu beef topped with pepper jack cheese, crispy bacon, crunchy onions, and roasted garlic mayo, all stacked together.
This award-winning burger took home the Judge’s Choice Award at the NYC Wine & Food Festival’s famous “Burger Bash,” and it’s easy to see why. Pair it with one of Black Tap’s signature CrazyShake milkshakes or a craft beer for a perfect meal.
Most Extravagant Burger Pick: Posh Royale Burger
True to its name, the Posh Royale is pure luxury between two buns. A Wagyu beef patty is dressed with truffle, rich foie gras, truffled Gouda cheese, gold dust, lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickles.
The result is a burger that's as glamorous as the Vegas Strip itself and celebrating a big win!
Most Extravagant Burger Pick: Staten Island Burger
Sink your teeth into an 8-ounce beef patty topped with crisp applewood-smoked bacon and sharp cheddar, all tucked in a brioche bun. Each burger comes with golden French fries, or you can upgrade to waffle-cut sweet potato fries, onion rings, garlic fries, or tater tots for a small extra charge.
Most Extravagant Burger Pick: Hangover Burger
Built to conquer even the wildest Vegas nights, the Hangover Burger is a tower of indulgence. It starts with a juicy beef patty stacked high with seasoned French fries, cheddar cheese, thick-cut bacon, caramelized onions, crispy onion straws, creamy blanco cheese, a fried egg, and a generous drizzle of boom boom sauce.
