Kansas commercial casinos generated $62.8 million in revenue for January, up from the previous year’s total of $30.6 million and representing a year-on-year increase of 105%.
The figures, published by the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, show that electronic gaming devices accounted for $29.5 million, up 10.2% year-on-year from $26.7 million. In contrast, table games dropped 1.9% year-on-year from $3.9 million to $3.8 million. Pari-mutuel wagering from historic horse racing (HHR) machines at Gilley’s Gambling Hall also contributed $29.5 million to the total.
With the addition of Gilley’s Gambling Hall, Kansas casinos had a successful month. The Sunflower State is also gaining a new sports team with the Kansas City Chiefs. While the NFL team is not set to move until after 2031, it is sure to impact Missouri’s new sports betting market, with a lawmaker introducing a bill last month that would prevent the Chiefs from operating a sportsbook in the state.
Of the state’s four casinos, not counting the new gambling hall, each one reported year-on-year revenue increases in January.
As well, Kansas Star Casino was the state’s biggest revenue generator last month, reporting revenue of $14.2 million, up 9.6% year-on-year. Electronic gaming devices accounted for the majority of total revenue, up 11.8% to $12.8 million, while table games declined 7.1% to $1.4 million.
Hollywood Casino was the second biggest generator, recording $12.5 million, a year-on-year rise of 7.8%. Electronic gaming devices at the casino were up 9.5% to $10.7 million, while table games dropped 1% to $1.8 million.
Boot Hill, which saw the largest revenue increase among the casinos, generated $3.5 million last month, up 13.9% year-on-year. Both electronic gaming devices and table games were also up at the casino, with increases of 11.5% and 34%, respectively.
Kansas Crossing Casino had the smallest revenue of the bunch, reporting only $3.1 million, a minor year-on-year increase of 2.8%. Electronic gaming devices rose 5.2% to $3 million, while table games decreased 27.7% to $156,897.

The only outlier last month was Gilley’s Gambling Hall, which only offers HHR pari-mutuel wagering. In its first month of operation since opening its doors to patrons in December 2025, the venue generated $29.5 million in gambling revenue.
Upon hearing the news that the Kansas City Chiefs were relocating from Missouri to Kansas, Missouri Senator Nick Schroer pre-filed a bill for January 31 that would prevent the Chiefs from operating a sportsbook in Missouri.
In the bill, SJR 109, Schroer proposes an amendment to the state’s sports betting market that would make NFL members ineligible to conduct sports betting in the state. If approved by lawmakers, the proposal would then head to Missouri voters to decide, much like what happened when they narrowly voted yes to allow online sports betting in November 2024.
“Current constitutional provisions define “professional sports team” as a team located in this state that is a member of the National Football League, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League, the National Basketball Association, Major League Soccer, the Women’s National Basketball Association, or the National Women’s Soccer League for the purposes of conducting sports wagering in this state. This constitutional amendment, if approved by the voters, removes members of the National Football League from such definition,” the bill reads.
