The Gambling Commission has announced that they achieved Level 2 Disability Confidence Employer status. The Gambling Commission regulates most types of gambling in Great Britain, including casino destinations and the National Lottery in the UK.

The Disability Confidence Employer status is awarded to organisations committed to recruiting and retaining colleagues with disabilities and health conditions.

This achievement recognises the Gambling Commission’s efforts as an employer that:

  • Challenges attitudes towards disability and promotes lived experiences.
  • Provides bespoke support, so those who need it can reach their full potential.
  • Increases understanding of disabilities through tailored training and guidance.
  • Anonymises recruitment applications to lessen unconscious bias.
  • Ensures our recruitment portals meet digital accessibility criteria.

Proudly Supporting Disabled Colleagues

Tom Campbell, the Diversity and Inclusion Manager for the Gambling Commission, said, “Achieving Disability Confident Level 2 status shows the progress we've made in building an inclusive culture for everyone at the Commission, and we'll proudly continue to support our disabled colleagues in line with our diversity and inclusion strategy.

"We couldn't have got here without the help and support of our people, so a big thank you to them. We'll continue to work hard to make this a great place to work for our disabled colleagues.” added Campbell.

Posting on LinkedIn, the Gambling Commission stated, “To say we’re proud is an understatement but our efforts don’t stop here! We’re looking ahead to the next challenge of achieving Level 3 with further innovation and inclusivity so we can continue to be an official Great Place to Work UK.

“A huge thank you, as always, to all of our colleagues who have helped us reach this milestone.”

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
