The Vegas August Concert Calendar Is Absolutely Stacked

Summers in Las Vegas are hit or miss. Sometimes it's 110 degrees, and there are no residencies, limited engagements, or concerts to be found. Other days, it's cooler at 100 degrees, and there are multiple shows every night.

August brings hot temps and a jam-packed music schedule. Huge tours are swinging through town throughout the month at Allegiant Stadium and T-Mobile Arena.

The casinos are hosting plenty of resident performers along with some in town for a limited engagement. A lot is going on, and here are the highlights of the August Las Vegas music calendar.

Rockin' Out at Allegiant Stadium

The first big concert of the month is when Australian rock legends AC/DC take the stage at Allegiant Stadium on Aug. 1. Lead singer Brian Johnson is 78 years old, and guitarist Angus Young is 71 years old, so it might make sense to see the band whily you can.

Later in the month, on Aug. 22, Guns N' Roses returns to Allegiant Stadium. Fun fact: they played the first rock concert at the stadium in 2021.

Morrissey Returns to Las Vegas

Morrissey is coming back to Las Vegas for the first time in a few years for a new limited engagement at the Encore Theater inside Wynn Las Vegas on Aug. 14, 15, 18 and 19.

The iconic frontman of The Smiths previously did stints at Caesars Palace and Mandalay Bay. Despite his dramatic persona on and off stage, he's performed in Las Vegas 14 times since 2021. Earlier in the decade, he was known for frequently canceling performances.

His limited engagement will include The Smiths' classics and solo modern rock hits, including "How Soon Is Now?," "This Charming Man," and "Everyday Is Like Sunday."

One reason to see Morrissey now is that we never know 'how soon' the mercurial singer will return or cancel shows in the future.

Backstreet’s Back, and So Is Kelly

The Backstreet Boys' never-ending residency returns to the Sphere with shows on Aug. 1, 6-8, 13-15, 20-22, and 27-29. While the group's first residency at Planet Hollywood was popular, it can't match the success, critical acclaim, and overall experience at the Sphere.

The shows from 2017-2019 held fewer than half the people and didn't have the amazing audio and visual production of the Sphere.

Kelly Clarkson returns to Caesars Palace for her less extravagant residency, Studio Sessions, on Aug. 7, 8, 14, and 15. While BSB focuses on an over-the-top show, Clarkson is focused on musical performance.

Rumor: Rush in Talks With Sphere for Residency

A couple of weeks ago, I saw several mentions on social media about a residency by the legendary Canadian rock band Rush at the Sphere. It appears that The Sun U.K. was the first to report the rumor from an unnamed source.

Since then, other media outlets have run with the information, but there hasn't been much more fuel added to the fire. A show for the prog-rock band could be epic with the amazing visuals at the Sphere.

Perhaps the Canadian band could entice visitors from the Great White North to return to Las Vegas. The number of passengers flying from Canada to Las Vegas has fallen every month this year.

Latin Pop Royalty Takes Over Allegiant

When Allegiant Stadium isn’t rockin', it will be poppin' with international pop-star Karol G, who takes the stage on Aug. 7. 

Her first major hit was in 2017, and she's since appeared on a Bad Bunny song and had Shakira and Nicki Minaj feature on her tracks. 

She's won Grammy and Latin Grammy awards and set attendance records during her worldwide Mañana Será Bonito tour. Earlier this year, she became the first Latina woman to headline Coachella.
