Day 3 of the PartyPoker Tour Birmingham didn’t hold back. With mixed games, turbo flights, and free-to-enter sports betting contests on tap, the buzz at the poker tables extended well beyond the chips.

A total of 66 entries joined the Mini Main Event 1C flight at 2PM Monday, bringing familiar faces and new hopefuls alike to the felt. PartyPoker Tour Ambassador Alexander Georgiev, known online as “whishiper96,” was back in action, joined by PartyPoker PROs Jaime and Matt Staples, and Manchester leg winner Deniz Orhan.

At the end of the flight, only 13 players advanced to Day 2, led by Matas Gerdziunas with 350,000 chips. Mohammed Ghollamrezapour (317,000) and Tauseef Amjad (308,000) rounded out the top three chip counts.

New Winners Join the Party

Off the Main path, side events drew strong participation, and crowned new champions.

Christopher Strang took down the NLH Win the Button event for £880, outlasting a lively field in one of the tour’s most entertaining side formats. Meanwhile, Georgiev wasn’t just grinding the main. He also claimed victory in the first-ever poker.pro Sviten Special tournament, defeating Rebecca Hardisty heads-up to earn £510 and bragging rights as the mixed-game maestro of the day.

“It was a lot of fun. Everyone was laughing, having a great time, and just enjoying the vibe,” Georgiev said after his win.

While Sviten might be a lesser-known variant, the buzz around the table suggested it’s here to stay.

Mixed Games, Sports Bets and a Full Poker Slate

The PartyPoker Tour has placed a clear focus on variety. From PLO to H.O.R.S.E. to Win the Button and now Sviten, the push toward mixed games is giving both seasoned grinders and curious newcomers something fresh to play.

Today, the action ramps up again with Day 1D of the £50,000 guaranteed Mini Main Event at 2PM, with additional flights running at 8PM (turbo) and satellites throughout the day.

At 6PM, the venue hosts “The House of Tables” NLH event (£200 buy-in), followed by the poker.pro PL H.O.R.S.E. tournament at 7PM.

Football Meets Free Entry Fun

As England takes on Latvia in the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 qualifiers tonight, PartyPoker players can get in on the action with a free-to-enter Sports Betting Tournament starting at 6PM.

All attendees can pick up a betting slip at the PartyPoker Welcome Desk, submit their answers before the 7:45PM kick-off, and stand a chance to win a £150 Mini Main Event seat. It’s part of the tour’s broader effort to blend entertainment and poker in a welcoming, community-first atmosphere.

“We want this to be more than just poker,” said a PartyPoker Tour team member. “It’s about making connections and having fun along the way.”

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
