Two very different bingo nights show the game’s power to change lives and support local causes as one last-minute ticket leads to a £100,000 Jackpot for a Bristol man.
Adam is celebrating a life-changing win after scooping £100,000 in Buzz Bingo’s Big Money Live. He bought his tickets online just 10 minutes before the game began and admitted the win came as a complete surprise. His wife, a regular Buzz Bingo player, persuaded him to join the session.
“I couldn’t believe it when I got the call. We weren’t even watching the game, so it came as a complete shock. It’s absolutely life-changing,” Adam said.
The couple said they were “over the moon” and already planning to use the winnings for a new home. “It’s a dream come true,” Adam added.
Buzz Bingo congratulated the winner, with a spokesperson noting: “Big Money Live is one of our most popular online bingo events. With real-time action, a live host, and huge jackpots on offer, it creates unforgettable moments for players. We are delighted to see Adam win such a significant prize.”
The jackpot marks the latest in a series of six-figure prizes paid out by Buzz Bingo both in club and online.
Buzz Bingo’s Big Money Live is set to return on 19 and 29 September with three special games. Each will feature an £11,997 prize pool, including a £9,999 Full House, £999 for a line win, and a “Double Your Winnings” twist if the prize is claimed on the number 9.
Games will be available in the club, online, and through the Buzz Bingo app.
New customers can also claim a welcome offer: deposit and stake £10 on bingo to receive a £30 online bonus plus £10 in club vouchers.
While Adam’s windfall grabbed headlines, another bingo event brought a different kind of reward. The George Hotel in Hayfield, High Peak, raised £508.20 during a Britpop-themed bingo night in support of local charities.
Funds were split between The Bureau Glossop, which is launching a dementia music therapy group, and Hayfield Primary School PTA, which will use its share for enrichment activities in the new school year.
“It was a fantastic night raising money for great causes,” said Heather Redfearn of Hayfield Primary School PTA.
Lauren Moore, operations manager at The Bureau, added: “Big thanks to Alex for organising a brilliant event, we had a great time and we are really grateful for the fundraising efforts.”
The event featured two rounds of Britpop-themed bingo alongside traditional games. Local businesses, including Sweet Shack in Glossop and Swizzels Matlow in New Mills, donated prizes ranging from themed earrings to yoga vouchers.
The George Hotel, under new management since January 2025, also contributed £250 of the total raised. The fundraiser was part of its “Publife” campaign, which features themed events to support community projects.
These two very different stories highlight the wide appeal of bingo across the UK. For some, like Adam in Bristol, the game can deliver life-changing wins. For others, like the residents of Hayfield, it creates opportunities to bring people together and raise money for local causes.
From jackpots to community fundraising, bingo continues to prove its place as more than just a game; it’s a driver of both personal fortune and collective good.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
