There is plenty of good news in the gambling industry. The industry is full of people who play an integral part in providing safe and welcoming venues for the communities they serve. A fine example of this is  Castle Bingo in Cardiff

The Cardiff-born bingo brand continues to prove that success in gaming isn’t just about numbers, it’s about people.

When the Lord Mayors of Cardiff visited Castle Bingo’s two city clubs on 30 September, they weren’t just stepping into halls filled with players. They were stepping into one of South Wales’ most enduring community institutions.

For decades, Castle Bingo has been a fixture in Welsh life, known not only for its games but for its people, the staff, members, and locals who make up its heart. The mayoral visit served as recognition of that role, highlighting the brand’s commitment to local engagement, charity work, and fostering community spirit inside and outside its clubs.

Community at the Core

The visit gave both Lord Mayors a firsthand look at the social atmosphere that defines Castle Bingo. Members gathered for the event, joined by club teams who showcased how bingo in Cardiff remains as much a community pastime as it is a form of entertainment.

Castle Bingo has long made community outreach central to its operations. From fundraising events for local causes to regular initiatives supporting charities across South Wales, the company has built a reputation for giving back. Its clubs often host charity games and local events that extend the sense of belonging far beyond the bingo tables.

“It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the warm community spirit at Castle Bingo,” the company said following the visit.

“We’re proud to support local engagement and the charities that matter most to our members.”

Career Growth from Within

That same spirit of care extends to Castle Bingo’s staff. This year, three team members, Kevin, Brooklyn Bodman, and Raychol, were promoted to general manager roles, reflecting the company’s commitment to developing talent from within.

Each new manager’s story highlights a different path of dedication. Raychol has been part of Castle Bingo for 21 years, while Kevin brings more than three decades of industry experience, having started in 1991. Brooklyn’s journey shows how the company nurtures young talent; she began at 18 in 2018 and now leads the Barnes Hill club.

“Their dedication, expertise, and passion for the bingo industry are a joy to have on our team,” the company said in a statement announcing their promotions.

These success stories underscore a workplace culture that values long-term growth and loyalty. Staff members often spend much of their careers at Castle Bingo, rising through the ranks in an environment that prizes mentorship and hands-on leadership.

More Than a Game

Bingo may be a game of chance, but Castle Bingo’s approach to community and career growth is anything but random. The company’s continued focus on people, from its players to its staff, has helped it maintain a strong identity in an ever-evolving leisure industry.

While online casinos and digital platforms continue to reshape entertainment, Castle Bingo’s clubs remain rooted in something timeless: connection. The laughter that fills its halls, the friendships built between players, and the shared excitement of each game are what keep communities like Cardiff’s coming back.

As Castle Bingo celebrates milestones like mayoral visits and internal promotions, the message is clear. Its strength lies not just in games played, but in the bonds it builds. And in that sense, every win is a community win.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
