Bingo is getting a bold makeover this autumn as a new cabaret-themed event arrives at Penarth Pier Pavilion.
Cabaret Bingo, hosted by drag performer Venus Flytrap, will debut 14 November, blending traditional bingo with live cabaret, burlesque, circus and music acts. The show promises “games, glamour, and jaw-dropping performances” and it’s strictly for those aged 18 and over.
The idea is the brainchild of Quill & Pearl Presents and Del Fflur Productions, two Welsh creative collectives known for championing inclusive live entertainment.
“As the evenings are drawing in, we could all do with some extra glamour and laughter in our lives,” said Kit Lambert, co-producer at Quill & Pearl Presents.
“Penarth is a brilliant town but there aren’t lots of entertainment options for a night out, so we wanted to create a fun, welcoming experience that can be enjoyed by adults young and old.”
Winners of each bingo line will decide the order of the evening’s acts, giving participants a say in whether the night starts with burlesque, drag or circus. For first-timers, simple instructions will be provided before play begins.

Performers include Lili Del Fflur, a Cardiff Life Awards finalist known for her cabaret artistry, alongside other guest acts from across the Welsh performance scene.
Doors and the bar open at 6:30 p.m., with the main show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available via Penarth Pier Pavilion’s Eventbrite page.
Organisers hope the event will help reinvigorate Penarth’s cultural nightlife and introduce audiences to the creativity of the region’s cabaret community.
More information about Cabaret Bingo and future productions is available on the Quill & Pearl Presents website.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
