Beckham Turns 50, Odds on New Ventures and TV Rumors

David Beckham is never too far away from a newspaper headline, and he's had more than usual in May after celebrating a huge milestone birthday.

Golden Balls is heading towards the golden years of life after he turned 50 on May 2. Sadly for the former England captain, part of the coverage surrounding his birthday focused on an alleged fallout with his son, Brooklyn Beckham.

But there has also been plenty to cheer about for Becks. He also just started his own football-style chat show, Paramount+'s Beckham & Friends Live, which featured special guests Guy Ritchie and Stanley Tucci in the first episode.

Beckham has been getting out and about in London – attending the launch of Nespresso's new flagship boutique in Covent Garden – and he recently rocked up leather-clad and on a motorbike in the latest Pepsi advert.

But what is next for Beckham now that he's turned 50?

Welcome To Salford

Beckham already co-owns US-based football team Inter Miami, but he and his former Manchester United teammate Gary Neville have led an ownership group in acquiring English League Two side Salford City Football Club.

David said, "I grew up in Salford... I have such fond memories of my time living there and the place and its people played such an important part in my early life in football.

"Salford City is at the heart of its community. It has a rich history and I am delighted to be a part of the next chapter."

Following Beckham and Neville's acquisition of the club, some have drawn comparisons to Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's ownership of Wrexham FC. The pair have taken the Welsh club from non-league to the Championship, England's second tier, after three successive promotions, and four seasons of their documentary series, "Welcome to Wrexham", has followed the epic journey.

Salford FC's rise through the non-leagues to League Two has previously been the subject of several documentaries after Neville and several of his Class of 92 teammates transformed Salford into a full-time club.

It's just 6/4 that Beckham and Neville are part of a new Salford FC documentary soon, but Becks might have eyes on another TV show first.

Rachel Richardson, who pens the culture and trends newsletter "Highly Flammable," has backed Beckham to star in a documentary about his rural adventures at their Cotswolds home, like former "Top Gear" presenter Jeremy Clarkson's successful "Clarkson's Farm show."

She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper, "He could pull off a Jeremy Clarkson Diddly Squat situation if he wants. But in a sexy Beckham way – people loved Victoria referring to his honey as ‘David’s sticky stuff’."

David is 3/1 to land a rural documentary, but it's 4/1 he is up for another series of his and Victoria's show, Beckham, on Netflix. Another documentary certainly looks likely, particularly because Beckham has a production company, Studio 99, which made his and Victoria's 2023 documentary.

I Do (Again)

David and Victoria forked out £12 million on a converted barn in the heart of the Cotswolds in 2016, and they are often showing bits and pieces of their plush pad on their socials.

Victoria gushed over David amid his 50th birthday celebrations, responding to his own Instagram post about the milestone by saying: "We love you so so much [heart emoji] happy birthday xxxx (sic)."

On the eve of David's 50th, Victoria took to Instagram to share a video of the happy couple – who married in July 1999 – dancing to Dolly Parton's tune Islands in the Stream.

She also wrote: "Happy birthday eve @davidbeckham… my everything [heart emoji] My best friend, soul mate and dance partner for life. Like the song says, "We start and end as one, In love forever. We can ride it together, ah ha." I love you xxxxxxxxxx (sic)."

A day later, Victoria shared a video montage to mark her husband's 50th, and she posted, "When I look at this video, I think, “Wow... how lucky am I!!” You’re everything I could have dreamed of and more. Happy 50th, @davidbeckham!!! I love you and our beautiful family endlessly. You complete me xxx (sic)."

Like any couple, the pair have endured some ups and downs, but their love for one another is clear to see. In July, it will be their 26th wedding anniversary, and they are just 13/8 to renew their vows next.

David and Victoria even find time to poke fun at one another, as he showed in their Beckham documentary when the Spice Girls singer insisted she was "working class". David then appeared out of nowhere and said, "Be honest. What car did your dad drive you to school in?"

Victoria protested but eventually said, "OK, in the 80s my dad had a Rolls-Royce." David simply replied, "Thank you," and left the room.

The pair recreated the Rolls-Royce documentary moment for an Uber Eats commercial during the latest Super Bowl.

In a recent interview with "Men's Health" magazine, it was revealed that David is a fan of salt and vinegar Kettle Chips – and he's just 6/1 to shoot an advert with the brand next.

Padel Balls

Beckham also told in the interview how he plays padel "three times a week", so it wouldn't be a huge surprise if he started up his own padel club soon (2/1).

Several other celebrities have invested in padel clubs, including Beckham's former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, grime artist Stormzy, and former tennis star Sir Andy Murray. Like Murray, the former Man United star would love to call himself a Sir, and David is just 5/2 to receive a knighthood next.

While he was overlooked by King Charles' late mother, Queen Elizabeth, during her reign, it was thought his chances might increase when Charles ascended the throne.

In June last year, David was announced as an ambassador for The King’s Foundation, and he shared a picture on Instagram of himself and His Majesty laughing together when he visited Highgrove Gardens.

Beckham admitted the pair "shared beekeeping tips", but Charles is yet to have swapped beekeeping knowledge for a knighthood.

However, David may not have to wait too long. While he would be delighted to be Sir David Beckham, he looks unlikely to turn to reality TV in his 50s. It's 33/1 to sign up for Strictly Come Dancing next and a massive 50/1 that he heads to Australia for the next series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

Stranger things have happened, but it looks highly unlikely he'll replace New England boss Thomas Tuchel as Three Lions manager (66/1) anytime soon either.
