Palace Bingo Reopens After Major Overhaul As Community Praises ‘Stunning’ Transformation

The Palace Bingo hall in Bedworth reopened this week following a months-long refurbishment that its operator, 2 Fat Ladies Leisure Limited, describes as one of the company’s largest recent investments. Local players turned out in force for the relaunch, praising the upgraded space, improved accessibility and the team behind it.

The revamp marks a fresh chapter for one of Bedworth’s longest-standing entertainment venues and signals renewed confidence in high-street bingo, which continues to draw loyal crowds despite a challenging retail and leisure market.

Months of Work Lead to Major Transformation

Owner/Managing Director at 2 Fat Ladies leisure ltd, Peter Wooley said the project required extensive preparation to modernise the club while keeping its familiar atmosphere intact.

“6 months of planning and 3 months of hard work later we have 2 completely refurbished bingo venues to be even more proud of!” Wooley said, thanking “the family, managers, staff, contractors, local MPs all associated with our company.”

The company operates multiple bingo venues across the Midlands, and the Bedworth upgrade is part of a wider plan to refresh legacy buildings and improve visitor experience. Staff said the goal was to retain the historic character of the Palace while introducing modern lighting, décor and improved access.

Regular visitors were quick to praise the transformation on the venue's Facebook page. Customer Vaughan Moore said the refurb struck the right balance between heritage and modernisation.

“Such a nice transformation for the Palace! Its still got all of its original character but modernised at the same time!”

Moore also noted that the friendly staff and service remained a signature part of the experience.

Others singled out the full building refresh, which included upgraded toilets and a new lighting and colour scheme. Long-time attendee Zola Mick highlighted the effort that went into the reopening festivities and overall guest experience.

“Just want to thank all the fantastic management & incredible staff for such a fantastic relaunch party,” Mick said.

He added that “The Palace looks stunning” and praised the venue’s improved accessibility before noting the evening’s entertainment, saying “Elvis is definitely in the building.”

Community Support Stays Central to Palace Bingo’s Identity

The relaunch drew a broad mix of loyal players, many of whom emphasised the venue’s importance as a social hub. The reopening also featured live entertainment and giveaways, underscoring the club’s focus on community engagement.

Marie McPherson said staff “went above and beyond” during the event and described the updated venue as “absolutely fantastic.” Meanwhile, Jackie Curry said members appreciated that the refurbishment had been completed while still keeping bingo sessions running.

“You all done amazing you all should be proud plus you kept all your customers happy so we could still play bingo,” Curry said.

2 Fat Ladies Leisure limited will discuss the project in more detail during the casinos.com podcast interview with Wooley on Tuesday, 24 November, where he will speak about the company’s strategy, the operational challenges and the future of traditional bingo in the UK.

I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
