Merkur Casino UK is set to open a new casino at Xscape Milton Keynes on 1 November 2025, marking another milestone in the company’s steady expansion across the UK.
The 22,000-square-foot casino venue will include a 1,367 m² gaming floor featuring 72 slot machines, 26 electronic roulette terminals, and 15 live gaming tables. Alongside gaming, guests can expect a 4,700-square-foot bar and event space designed to host live performances, community gatherings, and private functions.
Milton Keynes was chosen for its central location and existing ties to the Merkur brand, which already bases its UK head office in the town. The new site is expected to create more than 100 jobs across gaming, hospitality, and management.
New recruits will join Merkur’s development and training programmes, aimed at fostering long-term careers within the business. In line with its commitment to local engagement, the company partnered with regional suppliers and contractors during construction and fit-out.
An official opening event is planned for launch day, complete with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live entertainment, and a £10,000 cash prize draw.
The new Milton Keynes venue follows a period of rapid growth for Merkur Casino UK. In 2025, the company expanded into Northern Ireland through the acquisition of Oasis Retail Services, marking its first move into that market.
Earlier this year, Merkur also finalised its acquisition of Gaming Arts, completing a deal initially announced in May. The purchase strengthens Merkur’s position in North America as it seeks to re-establish a footprint there.
“We’re continuing to invest significantly in our estate, developing welcoming venues that bring gaming, hospitality and entertainment together,” said Mark Schertle, Merkur’s COO. “This opening also reflects our confidence in Milton Keynes, both as a growing leisure destination and as our home base.”

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
