Club 3000 Bingo in Knowle has announced it will close permanently on Friday, 31 October, after the Broadwalk Shopping Centre where it is based was ordered to shut and be demolished due to structural issues.
The closure ends a 25-year run for the popular bingo venue, which began as Riva Bingo before becoming part of the Club 3000 chain. The company confirmed it plans to open a new hall in south Bristol by spring 2027.
The Broadwalk Shopping Centre has been plagued by structural problems in its car park, prompting Bristol City Council and developers to proceed with demolition. The site is earmarked for a £180 million redevelopment project that will include 492 new homes, retail units, and community spaces under the proposed Redcatch Quarter plan, approved in principle in 2024.
In a letter to customers, Club 3000 said: “We have done everything we could to keep the club open until spring next year but due to our priority of keeping customers and staff safe we must close sooner. Our last day will be Friday 31st October.”
The company said it was “extremely disappointed and saddened” by the early closure but remains optimistic about the new site on Hartcliffe Way.
“We are working hard to secure planning permission for our new club on Hartcliffe Way, and we hope that this will be approved soon so we can begin building, with the goal of reopening in March 2027.”
While awaiting planning approval, Club 3000 is encouraging members to visit its nearby venues in Cardiff and Cwmbran. The company also announced a free Saturday bus service to the Cwmbran location, expected to launch in November.
During the closure, customers can continue playing through the Club 3000 Bingo website or mobile app. The company urged players to collect any remaining balance on their Bingo Bee accounts or vouchers before the final day.
“We truly appreciate and value every one of you, our loyal customers, many of whom we now consider friends,” the letter continued. “It has been a joy to be part of the Bristol community for the past 25 years as Riva and then Club 3000.”

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
