What started as a routine night of bingo at Club 3000 in Leeds, West Yorkshire, erupted into violence when a dispute among players spiralled out of control.
Mobile phone footage shared on social media shows several women grappling by the hair as chairs and tables were knocked aside. At one point, a man appeared to strike a woman in the face as onlookers shouted for the fighting to stop.
According to witnesses, the clash began after security escorted a man from the club. “As he left, the crowd reportedly clapped, prompting his female companion to lash out at another woman,” one attendee said.
While shocking, this wasn’t the first time a bingo hall has made headlines for the wrong reasons. In 2016, a fight broke out at Gala Bingo in Derby involving around 10 players after complaints over noise disrupted the game. Police were called to the scene.
Three years earlier, a Gala venue in Torquay saw a violent clash between groups of women, with chairs thrown and two people injured. The participants were banned for life from all Gala halls.
Even superstitions have sparked violence. In 2002, two regulars at Castle Bingo in Bridgend fought over a “lucky” seat, leaving one with a broken nose and both banned for life.
More recently, alternative bingo nights have also seen disturbances. In 2019, a woman at a Mecca Club event in Paisley was dragged out by bouncers after refusing to put her shoes back on, sparking a scuffle involving her husband. Watch the video footage here: Bingo Brawl
Bingo halls have long been seen as safe, community-oriented venues, particularly popular with older patrons. Incidents like the one in Leeds risk damaging that reputation, especially as operators work to attract new audiences in an era when online bingo platforms are competing heavily with brick-and-mortar clubs.
While such fights remain rare, they highlight the challenges faced by entertainment venues in balancing security with customer experience. For many, the dramatic scenes at Club 3000 serve as a reminder that tensions can spill over anywhere, even in a game usually associated with lighthearted fun.
The brand-new club in Leeds has been open a few weeks and management said they were over the moon with the venue. They stated: “We just can't stop showing it off.
“Our goal was to provide an exceptional bingo experience, blending the latest technology with a welcoming, modern environment, and this stunning venue shows our commitment to bringing bingo into the modern age.”
The 25th venue marks a £5.5 million investment in a modern, stylish space designed to bring bingo into a whole new era. The club also has many unique features, including the first ice cream van in a bingo club!
The isolated incident involved a customer whose behaviour was unacceptable and was subsequently asked to leave.
A Club 3000 spokesperson told Casinos.com: “We can confirm that an incident occurred at our Leeds club on Sunday, 28th September.
“Our team acted appropriately and when the situation escalated between certain customers, we called the police for support."
The spokesperson went on to say:
“We can confirm there were no injuries. The safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers is always our highest priority".

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
