Ontario's regulated online gambling market posted its biggest month on record in July.

iGaming Ontario reported that Ontarians wagered $9.88 billion during the month, according to the regulator's own monthly market performance data.

That is nearly $300 million more than the previous record of $9.59 billion, set in March.

It also represents a 31% increase over July 2025.

Revenue and Tax Take

Operators' non-adjusted gross gaming revenue for July came in at $413.6 million, the second-highest monthly total on record behind December's $426 million.

That figure was up 33% year over year.

Ontario applies a 20% tax rate to operator revenue, meaning the province collected roughly $83 million in tax from July's iGaming activity alone.

Record Active Accounts, Falling Revenue Per Player

Monthly active player accounts reached nearly 1.37 million, up 44% year over year and 3.5% from June.

The commercial market now includes 49 licensed operators running 84 sites, according to iGaming Ontario.

Two new brands launched during the summer: DAZN Bet went live on June 30, and Hard Rock Bet launched its sportsbook and casino on July 22.

Fanatics launched its online casino, but not its sports betting site, on Sept. 1.

Average revenue per active account fell 7.6% year over year to $303, the lowest since February's $262.

Online Casino Keeps Driving The Market

Ontario online casino wagers rose 30% year over year to $8.78 billion, or 89% of total handle, and casino revenue hit an all-time high of $330.4 million.

Online sports betting wagers came in at $992 million, down from June's total, which had been lifted by the early rounds of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Sports betting revenue for July was $77.8 million, up 47% year over year but the lowest monthly figure since March.

iGaming Ontario's figures exclude activity on the government-run Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) platform, which reports separately and only on an annual basis.

Meanwhile, even more brands are expected to launch in Ontario in the not-so-distant future. Most recently, UK challenger brand Midnite appointed a GM for Canada, though what exact provinces it'll enter remains unconfirmed.
