WSOP Super Circuit Event Debuts in Canada and Is Already Breaking Records

The debut of WSOP’s Super Circuit Canada is already making history, with several events still remaining on the schedule. Held at Playground Poker in Kahnawake, Quebec, there are 18 total ring events on the schedule. 11 rings are still up for grabs, with seven already awarded.

The previous record for the largest prize pool in Canadian poker history was $15.45 million before this event, according to the WSOP. This year’s Main Event’s prize pool has already surpassed that, with $6 million generated by Sept. 2. The prize pool currently sits at a little over $13 million.

Three high roller events are included in the schedule. The $14,000 GGMillion$ Day 1 and $25,000 Super High Roller are currently in play, and the $6,000 PLO High Roller starts on Sept. 10.

Playground Poker opened in 2010 and currently has 128,000 square feet of gaming, 65 poker tables, and 1,200 machines. It’s become a go-to destination for large poker tournaments, previously hitting records even in 2018 with 2,401 entries at the WSOP Circuit Main Event.

Every ring winner from the series will earn a package to the WSOP Circuit Championship at WSOP Paradise 2026, taking place in Baha Mar in the Bahamas from Dec. 3 to 17.

The WSOP is partnering once again with Solana, a crypto platform, enabling players to buy into WSOP events with cryptocurrency.

GGPoker’s parent company, NSUS Group, officially became the owner of the WSOP in October 2024. Unlike in America, you can play GGPoker for real money in Canada.

Daniel Negreanu, Michael Mizrachi, and Kitty Kuo are still in the mix as of Day 3 of the Main. After a twenty-year drought since winning his last Circuit ring, the question becomes, will Negreanu be able to clinch his second one?
