What’s Next for Nicole Kidman? The Odds Are In!

Nicole Kidman has been extremely busy with work in the past few years, appearing in movies and TV shows galore.

But, sadly for the actress, she has been busy after filing for divorce from her husband, Keith Urban, last week.

According to TMZ, both stars, who married in 2006 and have two daughters, Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14, have signed such a divorce document after they separated earlier this summer.

Kidman cited "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for her and Keith's divorce, and the pair are said to have devised a parenting plan following their split.

Before filing, Nicole had gone public about needing to take a break from acting following her slew of screen work of late.

In March, she told The Hollywood Reporter, "I was much more out there last year; this year I have "Holland," I have "Nine Perfect Strangers," and then I’m off for the rest of the year. So, oh well!"

So, what is next for Nicole?

Kidman's Home Comforts

The "Bombshell" actress, who was reportedly keen to save her and Keith's marriage, is said to have been leaning on her family for support amid her and Urban's split, and her sister Antonia has been her "rock."

A source told PEOPLE, "Nicole’s sister has been a rock, and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another."

It wouldn't be a surprise if Kidman kept her next project close to home, which could see her launch a podcast with her journalist and TV presenter sibling.

Nicole is just 15/8 to do so next, but she could also turn to one of her other comforts - yoga.

In July, Kidman told how she loves to practice hot yoga with her daughters.

Speaking to PEOPLE earlier this year, she said, "I love doing hot yoga right now, so I feel really good about an hour after that. My daughters and I, we do it together, and we call it the glow-up.

"We look red-faced and ragged when we come out, but about an hour later, wow."

Nicole is known to enjoy taking care of her body - and other people. Last October, she told Variety: "It's very hard for me to go, 'OK, I'm just going to take care of myself.'

"I'm thinking, 'I can create more work for people. I can create jobs for people.' And also, I love it. I have the passion.

"I've just got to take care of my body. I wish I had superpowers because I would love to be everywhere."

As a result, launching a sibling podcast or a yoga retreat (5/2) may well fit in with her future plans.

Big Little Lies On The Way Soon?

One future endeavour Nicole has previously spoken about is reprising her role as Celeste Wright in season three of the psychological dark comedy drama "Big Little Lies."

But this wasn't part of Kidman's recent workload, which has prompted quips in Hollywood.

At this year's Golden Globes, host Nikki Glaser made a joke about Kidman's recent roles - but the joke hasn't aged well after the actress split from Urban.

Glaser said, "Thank you, Nicole, for working so hard!

"And thank you, Keith Urban, for playing guitar around the house so much that she wants to leave and make 18 movies a year. Keep strumming, you kooky koala."

Kidman has had five movies, as well as shooting "Practical Magic 2," which will drop next year, released in the last two years.

She has also appeared in four TV projects and executive produced two others since 2023, with two more on the way in the shape of "Scarpetta" and "Margo's Got Money Troubles."

Fortunately for "Big Little Lies" fans, she will be back for a third season of the TV show, but when is the question.

In June last year, Kidman revealed season three is in "good shape."

Speaking in a Vanity Fair video alongside her Big Little Lies co-star Reese Witherspoon, Nicole said, "We’re moving fast and furious. Liane [Moriarty] is delivering the book. We’re in good shape."

However, she censored herself before revealing too much, adding, "We need to shut up. There’s a whole thing about how you should never talk about something until you’ve done it because if you talk about doing it then it’s the dopamine hit of doing it and you feel like you’ve done it. It’s a scientific study."

As a result, it's not yet known when series three will be released, and it's 2/1 to be Kidman's next project.

Heading Back Down Under

Nicole is also no stranger to living in Australia, and she's just 3/1 to move back Down Under following her and Urban's breakup.

The former couple has a farmhouse in Australia's Southern Highlands region and a pair of penthouses in Sydney, as well as plush pads in Nashville, Beverly Hills, and Chelsea, New York, in the US.

Last November, Nicole - who was born in Hawaii but grew up in Sydney - and Keith were said to be considering moving back to Australia following the death of Kidman's mother, Janelle.

It wouldn't be a huge surprise if she relocated in the future, with the UK even a potential possibility.

The actress was recently shooting "Practical Magic 2" in London, where she was renting Boy George's former mansion, and she wouldn't be the first US-based star to relocate to the UK in recent years.

Nicole is 10/1 to follow in the footsteps of the likes of Ellen DeGeneres - but Australia looks more likely.

Nicole's mother passed away in Oz in September 2024, aged 84, just hours before Nicole was named Best Actress at the Venice Film Festival for her work on "Babygirl."

She received several Best Actress accolades for the movie, in which she played a high-powered CEO who started an affair with a younger intern, who was played by Harris Dickinson.

During the promotional trail for the erotic thriller, Nicole was asked a lot about her numerous sex scenes.

Last October, she spoke about the "liberating" experience of shooting the motion picture - which explored sexuality and desire - telling PEOPLE, "I’ve always been on a quest as an actor; I’m always going. Where have I not been? And what can I explore as a human being? And this was an area I’d never been."

Nicole also hasn't put her name to a sex toy in the past, and she is 8/1 to do so next, following her "Babygirl" success.

However, Kidman may prefer a move away from intimacy after admitting last year she grew tired of "being touched" when filming numerous sex scenes for the racy role.

She told The Sun last October: "There was an enormous amount of sharing and trust and then frustration. It's like, 'Don't touch me.'

"There were times when we were shooting where I was like, 'I don't want to orgasm anymore. Don't come near me. I hate doing this. I don't care if I am never touched again in my life! I'm over it.'

"It was so present all the time for me that it was almost like a burnout."

One way Nicole would ensure she avoids any future burnout would be to retire from acting altogether.

However, that seems highly unlikely, at 20/1, given how much she clearly loves to be in front of a camera.

And while she doesn't look likely to take on Urban in the courts following details of their divorce, she could still do so in the charts.

It's well known Kidman can hold a song or two - she collaborated with Robbie Williams on the 2001 tune “Somethin' Stupid” and recorded several songs for the "Moulin Rouge" soundtrack - and she is just 4/1 to drop a country album next. Yee-haw!
