Casinos.com Names Seven Tribal and First Nation Casinos in 2026 Community Impact Awards

Casinos.com has named the winners of its 2026 Community Impact Awards, the centrepiece of the site's annual Tribal Gaming Month, recognising seven Tribal and First Nation casinos across the United States and Canada for the work they do in their local communities.

The awards were decided entirely by a public vote. Locals in each participating state and province were asked to name the casino that has had the most significant impact on the community around it, whether through funding and donations or through the entertainment it provides.

The campaign formed part of Casinos.com's Tribal Gaming Month, an initiative dedicated to the achievements, cultural contributions, and economic impact of Indigenous-owned and operated casinos across North America. For players, it puts a spotlight on venues whose money is directed back into the nations that run them rather than to outside shareholders.

Four US States Crown Their Winners

In the United States, Pechanga Resort Casino, run by the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, won California. Mohegan Sun, operated by the Mohegan Tribal Nation, took Connecticut, and WinStar World Casino and Resort, owned by the Chickasaw Nation, claimed Oklahoma.

Florida produced the closest contest of the awards. Seminole Hard Rock Tampa, part of the Seminole Tribe of Florida, drew more votes than any other casino this year. Florida was also the only region where the top two finishers came from the same nation, with Tampa finishing ahead of its sister property, Seminole Hard Rock Hollywood.

Canadian Venues Honoured During Indigenous History Month

In Canada, River Cree Resort & Casino, run by the Enoch Cree First Nation, won Alberta. Casino Rama, operated by the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, topped the vote in Ontario, and Dakota Dunes Resort & Casino, owned by the Whitecap Dakota First Nation, took Saskatchewan.

The month-long campaign aligned with National Indigenous History Month in Canada. Casinos.com said it was intended to recognise the sovereignty of First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Native American communities, and the role First Nation casinos play on the lands where they operate.

'It's great for us to be able to shine a spotlight on Tribal and First Nation casinos,' said Colm Phelan, Global Brand Manager at Casinos.com. 'These are establishments who really care about their local communities, not a shareholder's pocket. Tribal Gaming Month is our way of putting that front and center, and giving local players a chance to say thank you to the casinos that get it right.'

Tribal gaming is a major economic force in North America, having posted record revenues in recent years and funded services on the reservations and First Nation lands where the venues operate. The awards give players a direct say in which of those operators they believe give back the most.

Tribal Gaming Month sits alongside other Casinos.com initiatives, including International Casinos Day, the annual International Casino Awards, and the Slots Hall of Fame.
