Aristocrat’s Lightning Link Slot Makes Striking Online Debut

One of the most-played slot brands on the casino floor has made its online debut. Aristocrat Interactive has brought Lightning Link to regulated real money casino platforms across the US and Canada for the first time. That means online players will now have access to a franchise that has dominated casino floors for more than a decade.

The launch title, Lightning Link High Stakes, is now live on major online casino sites and mobile apps throughout the region. But it's just the start of a bigger rollout, with additional titles from the Lightning Link family expected to follow in the coming months.

Why Players Love Lightning Link

So why is Lightning Link so special? It’s not an exaggeration to say that Lightning Link revolutionised slot play when it premiered more than a decade ago. It introduced the innovative Hold and Spin bonus, where locked-in symbols keep respinning for a shot at a bigger payout. The feature has since become a worldwide gaming phenomenon, so thank Lightning Link for any modern slots you play with a "lock and respin" bonus.

It will also keep the same mechanics that made the game worth playing: Hold and Spin, Cash on Reels, and a Big Reel bonus that merges the center reels into a single giant symbol during free games.

There's also a shared progressive jackpot system, including a Grand Jackpot, round out the game's prize structure. 

A Full-Scale Network Launch

Aristocrat Interactive CEO Dylan Slaney says the debut is a major milestone for the brand. According to Slaney, Lightning Link is one of the most successful land-based slots, and it will give online players a chance to enjoy it.

"This is a full-scale network rollout supported by the industry's largest operators, featuring a roadmap of subsequent legendary titles," Slaney said in a release. "Lightning Link is synonymous with gaming around the world." 

High Stakes almost certainly won't be the only Lightning Link title you'll be able to play online for long. Slaney also framed the move as a case study in omni-channel strategy, taking a franchise with a long track record on casino floors and adapting it for the online market. 

"By translating this tried-and-true land-based game family for the online RMG space, we deliver a product with proven performance data," Slaney said. "This is the definition of omni-channel excellence: taking this global sensation and optimizing it for the digital frontier."

Lightning Link High Stakes is available now to players in regulated US states and Canadian provinces through their preferred online casino app. Aristocrat has not yet detailed which specific titles will follow, but has confirmed more entries from the Lightning Link franchise are planned for release in the months ahead.
