A Dublin local known only as Karl took home the top prize in the D1 Casino CASH LEAGUE this month, clinching the win after 40 hours of intense cash-game action and securing his share of a €21,325 prize pool.
The tournament, hosted by D1 Casino, drew seasoned regulars and newcomers alike to compete for a major payday with a relatively low barrier to entry.
Karl’s victory capped off what the casino billed as one of its most competitive CASH LEAGUE events yet. With a format designed to reward loyal players who put in the hours rather than those who simply buy in big, the tournament attracted a wide mix of participants looking to grind their way to the top.
“Congratulations to D1 Casino CASH LEAGUE winner Karl,” the casino announced in a post celebrating the win.
“Just 40 hours on cash games to qualify.”
Unlike traditional poker tournaments, the CASH LEAGUE rewards consistent players over time. To qualify, players needed to accumulate 40 hours of play on the casino’s cash-game tables over a set period. This format levels the playing field, favouring strategy and stamina over deep pockets.
The total prize pool of €21,325 was split among top performers, with Karl securing the biggest share. D1 Casino has not publicly disclosed Karl’s exact winnings, but top-tier prizes in past events have often run into the five-figure range.
D1 Casino confirmed that the next CASH LEAGUE tournament is scheduled to begin in approximately two months. Players interested in competing are encouraged to register online in advance via D1Casino.ie.
The success of the current event has already generated buzz for what’s next, with several players commenting on social media about plans to enter the upcoming competition.
For Irish poker and casino enthusiasts, D1 Casino’s CASH LEAGUE has become a proving ground. With relatively low qualifying requirements and transparent rules, it offers a player-friendly structure that’s increasingly rare in the casino tournament world.
Beyond the prize money, the league gives regular players a chance to earn recognition and hone their cash-game skills in a competitive yet welcoming environment.

Most of my career was spent in teaching including at one of the UK’s top private schools. I left London in 2000 and set up home in Wales raising four beautiful children. I enrolled at University where I studied Photography and film and gained a Degree and subsequently a Masters Degree. In 2014 I helped launch a new local newspaper and managed to get front and back page as well as 6 filler pages on a weekly basis. I saw that journalism was changing and was a pioneer of hyperlocal news in Wales. In 2017 I started one of the first 24/7 free independent news sites for Wales. Having taken that to a successful business model I was keen for a new challenge. Joining the company is exciting for me especially as it is a new role in Europe. I am keen to establish myself and help others to do the same.
