What do the critics know anyway? Well, when the critics are Casinos.com, obviously everything, but slots are made for the people, not the critics. So, let’s hear what new land-based game of 2025 you want recognised.
The Banger on the Slot Floor Award celebrates the best and brightest land-based slots that were released for 2025. There was no shortage of choices here, but we are only interested in contenders, not pretenders.
So, here are the three games we have narrowed it all down to. These games were true scene-stealers on the casino floor, and that is a scene that is not easy to steal.
Vote for your favourite and you could walk away with $5,000, perhaps to spend on a trip to Las Vegas to pay homage to the game that won you it.
Our Inductees for the Best New Land-Based Slot
We want to start by assuring you, our valued readers, that the process of selecting these three new slots that you can find in land-based casinos has not been taken lightly. It has been thorough, with one poor sent to Las Vegas to play everything he could lay his eyes on.
It was an arduous assignment, but one we know you’ll rightly consider absolutely necessary. In fact, should he ever return from Vegas (note: the last communication received from him in response to us asking when he is coming back simply read ‘lol’), we will be sure to pass on your appreciation for his efforts.
Nominee 1 – Spooky Link
Those with a nervous disposition need not worry, Spooky Link is designed to make you laugh rather than hide behind your chair. It’s really more a Scooby-Doo kind of spooky than a Conjuring one. The game is based on Mo Mummy, but only the half of Mo Mummy that everyone loved, not that other half we don’t talk about, and now has an expanded cast of characters that include an adorable child-like ghost and a Himalayan yeti with separation anxiety. And it can pay big.
Nominee 2 – Ultimate Fire Link: Triple Nova
Light & Wonder have had Ultimate Fire Link games on the casino floor for years. So long, in fact, that on some of the older cabinets the symbols have been literally burned onto the screen over time. Ultimate Fire Link: Triple Nova feels like a genuine game-changer for the series, though. It is spectacularly visual and immersive, and you could even argue that since it deals with stars and fire balls and flaming meteors extreme high volatility is even bang on theme.
Nominee 3 – House of the Dragon
Slot machines based on TV shows or movies tend to succeed or fail based on the popularity of the media it’s based on, not its own merit as a slot game. We fancy Aristocrat’s House of the Dragon to buck that trend, though. It has all the atmosphere of HBO’s hit Game of Thrones prequel, but the slot play around it has been quite brilliantly designed to produce a game of both substance and style.
