So we decided to use Tripadvisor to try to find the luckiest casinos in Alberta. We did it by looking for certain keywords like “lucky,” “winning,” and “success.” Based on the number of keyword mentions, we ranked the casinos on a scale from luckiest to least lucky.

Starlight Casino topped our charts as being the luckiest casino in Alberta. This one got a seriously impressive rating of 24.53%. “Lucky” came up the most, closely followed by “bonus” and “luck.” This Alberta casino has over 700 slots, 32 tables, and even private VIP salons, so there are plenty of chances for you to land a win. One review said, “I've had good days and bad days here. Just try to behave well and you'll usually get the same back. How good you do depends on how lucky you are”, and while we can’t exactly call it a shining endorsement, it will do.

Next up, Elbow River Casino received a rating of 21.15%, with 11 keyword mentions out of 52 reviews. 

The Canadian casino promises Vegas-style gambling, but does it deliver? According to one happy player, the answer is a resounding yes.

“And I...played for the 1st time here and won in November 12, 2011 and today déjà vu...played and won again! Thank you, Elbow!” At this point we feel the need to mention that although the word “won” came up seven times, two of those were recommendations for the wonton soup.

Pure Casino Yellowhead rounds out our top three luckiest casinos, with a rating of 15.19% on the scale. As one of the largest casinos in Western Canada, you’d be right in thinking this place has a huge selection of games. And the reviews agreed that you’ve got a pretty good chance of landing a win.

We found one particularly positive review, which said, “The Casino Yellowhead is one of the newer casinos in Edmonton. It has a very attractive entrance and lots of parking. The access to the casino leaves a bit to be desired, but not a huge barrier. The meals are affordable; it's open late and with lots of luck, you can take home more than you brought."

And how about the least lucky casinos? These were just as interesting to us as the luckiest, so we’ll tell you about the two that got the worst rankings.

First things first—the Alberta casino that was deemed the unluckiest in this study is the Cowboys Casino. This one only got 7.69% on our scale, with just six keyword mentions. But this is only according to reviews, and maybe luck is due at Cowboys Casino?

“Cowboys Casino was a terrible experience. The dealers are grumpy and it costs a fortune to eat or drink anything. Nobody at the casino tables was winning, just losing”, said one review, while several others also called out the unfriendly dealers.

Deerfoot Inn and Casino did slightly better, receiving 10.29%, and getting seven keyword mentions. Nevertheless, it was still second from the bottom of our list. 

One person said, “Casino is dated and dingy; it didn't look like anyone was winning. certainly not glitzy or a friendly atmosphere. I would recommend a different casino.” You heard them. Try a different casino. Maybe one from the top of our list, like Starlight or Elbow River. 

Methodology

Casinos.com utilized Tripadvisor reviews to do an in-depth analysis of phrases associated with luck to determine the Alberta casino that is the luckiest. We calculated the percentage of luck-related mentions in the total Tripadvisor reviews.
