Ladies and Gentlemen, the following review is going to be a retrospective look at a slot game that came out a very long time ago. So long, in fact, that I will have to start as all good tales start when presenting a story of old.
Once upon a time, the software developer Novomatic released a game called Sizzling Hot in 2003. Later on, Novomatic’s subsidiary company Greentube took the original Sizzling Hot slot and made it bigger and better.
Sizzling Hot Deluxe by Greentube was a casino slot that was made as an homage to classic slot machines known as fruit machines at the time. This game is a nostalgic look of a nostalgic look now, and despite the simplistic appearance, how does the game fair by today’s standards?
I will be revisiting this game, to give it one last play for real money. I share the gaming features, design, performance, and software settings. You too can play this game in its free demo mode and learn firsthand how an online casino game performed almost two decades ago.
The Sizzling Hot Deluxe slot by Greentube is a retro slot machine with a 90s style to it. If you have played old-time slot machine cabinets before, then you will understand why this game comes with much nostalgia.
The design is basic, so you couldn’t get stripped down anymore if you tried. Sizzling Hot Deluxe comes with three rows, five reels, and only five paylines. Yes, this truly is a game that takes you back in time. Before you begin playing, you will see the five payline patterns highlighted on the grid.
The game is so far from the mark by today’s standards that I cannot advise you to play this game. By all means, test the free demo game, and let me know what you think of it in the comments.
Whether the slot is twenty, ten, or one-year-old, they will all play the same way. As with any online slot game, load the Sizzling Hot Deluxe slot from a legit casino online. Start by picking the value of your bet. The bet is paid per spin, so keep to your budget. The price of playing a spin begins at $0.05 and rises to a maximum cost of $50 per spin.
With your bet set, you can begin playing the game for money or fun if you engage with the free demo. You have the option to play autospins. Select this to start the game, and then select to stop the automatic function.
Winning from this slot comes when you match three or more symbols across one of the five paylines. The top symbol to land is the 7. After this, you have the melon, grape, star, plum, orange, lemon, and cherries. You can win when you land two or more cherries.
Should you win, you will be given the option to gamble your winnings or collect them. That is all there is to play this game. The rules are as old as time. Spin the reels, cross your fingers, and hope that a big win lands.
Sizzling Hot Deluxe doesn’t have the number of features and bonuses that you get from more modern games. So, let’s look at what is made available.
When you form a win by landing three or more matching symbols, you will have an option to gamble what you have won. Select Gamble on the control panel, and you will open a card game. You can still back out at this stage and collect your winnings instead.
The card game asks you to guess the suit of the card. Is it Red or Black? If your guess is incorrect, you will lose the full amount you won. If you win, you can collect the awarded increase, or you can continue to gamble. The Gamble feature ends when you incorrectly guess the card color.
Now, I have played this slot game before, so to see this again so many years later is nice to see. I play the game with my bets set to $2, and I opt to play Sizzling Hot Deluxe in its Autoplay mode. Unlike modern slot games, this autoplay feature doesn’t come with a pre-selected number of auto spins to pick from. When you play in auto mode, the button is essentially an on/off function.
As soon as the game starts, the days of old come flooding back. The sounds used in this game are so very 90s, with its old-style gaming sounds, much like stepping into an arcade filled with whizzes, blurps, pops, zoops, and other old electric sounds. Yep, I’m glad gaming evolved so very quickly.
With ten spins played so far, I have failed to land a single win. As I stare at the slot, seemingly waiting for my life to end quicker than this game, I get my first win some twenty spins into play. The return of this triumphant feat is a whopping $0.80. Now, despite earning such massive sums, I do not quit to cash out or risk gambling and continue to play.
The next win comes in five spins later and with this only being $0.20, I muster the courage to select the Gamble option and guess the card is black. I fail and lose my $0.20 win. It’s at this point I call timeout and end the experience of playing Sizzling Hot Deluxe for real money.
The Sizzling Hot Deluxe slot machine from Greentube comes with a medium volatility setting and carries a Return to Player rating of 95.66%. The maximum payout from this game is 1,000x the player’s bet. If gambling at the high end of $50 per spin, you’ll be playing for a jackpot value of $50,000!
Slot games like Sizzling Hot Deluxe by Greentube were, at the time, big games. They didn’t age well at all, but casinos and the industry around them evolved fast. The game is so far from the mark by today’s standards that I cannot advise you to play this game. By all means, test the free demo game, and let me know what you think of it in the comments.
If you want to play games of a similar style but more modern, then I recommend you try out these three demo games.
