Fire in the Hole 2 picks up what its predecessor left off. It’s a similar slot with the same visuals but slight upgrades to justify the means for its existence. When you start spinning, you have 486 ways to win. Those can expand to 46,656 depending on the grid openings courtesy of xBombs, xSplits, and wild mining features.

Once again, it’s an NLC slot filled with all kinds of specials – the only things missing are xWays and xNudges. But you get the xBet, which costs a bit more but guarantees at least 1 scatter.

If you’re feeling like going down the shaft again, you shouldn’t miss this opportunity. Yes, NLC didn’t go creatively wild with this release, but fans of the first Fire in the Hole slot are in for another explosive ride.

There’s a lot going on in this hole, so strap in. The action begins as soon as you place a bet. You can choose between 20c and $100 per spin. • Besides the regular symbols, you’ll also see dirt that can be dug up to reveal xSplits, scatters, or wilds. These symbols can only be activated by an xSplit or regular symbol removals.
• xSplits are a common feature in many Nolimit City slots. Each one splits the symbols in its own row, doubling them. If any symbols split in 8’s, they will be displayed with a multiplier.

Landing 3-5 scatters triggers the Lucky Wagon spins. This is NLC’s version of a Hold & Win feature. It starts with 3 respins. You now have a horizontal reel on top with all kinds of prizes. The lowest ones are worth 1x and represented by a poop. The others are brought in by regular and golden mining carts.

Each spin starts with holes dug up at every position on the grid. Coins can land anywhere with values attached to them. Each new coin resets the respins tally back to 3. New enhancers are also available. They include dynamites, multipliers, beers, and the crazy dwarf that appears on the splash screen.

You also have an extra 7^th reel in the bonus round, which features upgrade crystals. If the enhancer coins land on this reel, they gain the effects of the crystal. The dynamite, dwarf, and beer enhancers turn persistent, and their effects will last until the end of the bonus round.

Just like in all other NLC slots, you can buy the bonus feature. It costs 70x, 200x, and a whopping 600x the bet for 3, 4, or 5 scatters. The lucky draw feature costs 175x, and you decide for yourself. An xBet feature makes the rounds, too, but it costs 150% of your current spin. It guarantees at least 1 scatter per spin.

Nolimit City is my favorite developer, so despite the fact I’m no fan of mining slots, I was happy to spin Fire in the Hole 2 at the best slot sites. It impressed me with its shenanigans, such as the poop prizes in the bonus round and the overall winning potential. One thing to note – this is a very highly volatile slot game, so be mindful of your bets.

Due to the extreme volatility, I wasn’t going to get to the bonus round easily. For the purpose of my Fire in the Hole 2 slot review, I paid for the xBet. Happened to land 4 scatters around 10 spins in and won a fantastic 75x in the bonus round from a total of 12 respins. It’s a valuable addition to the slot, although I was disappointed not to see the upgrade crystals in action.

Fire in the Hole 2’s RTP is set to 96.07%, which is excellent considering the volatility is that high. The slot’s maximum winning potential is higher than the original and set at 65,000x the bet.

Nolimit City can do no wrong. It’s created the ultimate slots in the past few years, and Fire in the Hole 2 takes the mining approach a few steps forward. While it doesn’t feature the full palette of gameplay enhancers, this NLC slot has just the right number of modifiers to keep you spinning and hopefully winning.
