Fugly Pets by Stakelogic takes us into a world of unwanted animals, which isn’t entirely new, but rare enough to warrant the interest of an eyebrow-raising standard. To turn my words into a review, I shall be sharing my experience of the game and discussing everything regarding the software, gameplay, and my verdict.

Fugly Pets is set in a murky pet store that is barely lit and in need of a cleaning. From time to time, you see animals poke their heads out from behind the plants on the worktop. The music is rather jolly and upbeat, which adds to the character of the game. The slot layout presents five rows and five reels that provide 3,125 payways. 

To the right of the reels is a multiplier feature that can help to boost your returns. The symbols for this game include a dog, cat, parrot, rat, and lizard, and they all look like they come with tuberculosis or rabies. 

The first step is to load this game from your casino, make the necessary deposit, and set the betting amount per spin. The cost of play starts at $0.10 a go, with the prices rising to a max amount of $50. Press the large Spin button to play the game when you have set your bet limit. 

With Fugly Pets, wins can be made by either landing two or more of the pet animal symbols or three or more of the letter and number symbols (A, K, Q, J, and 10). When a win is formed, those symbols contributing to the win vanish from the screen, with all symbols above dropping into their place. New symbols are then dropped into the slot. This action can produce new wins over and over again. You will activate the multiplier feature when you form a win based on the animal symbols. 

The feature starts at x1 in value, and when an animal makes a win, it increases before the next drop of symbols so that it can be added to any potential win. The multiplier values go from x2 and end at x64.

The multiplier feature is just one of the special things about this game. The game also comes with a free spins bonus game. This is awarded when you land three or more bonus symbols. Three bonus symbols will get you ten free bonus spins. Four bonus symbols will award you 12 free spins, and should you land five symbols, that gives you 15 spins.

You can win further spins to prolong the special feature round during the free spins game. Also, the multiplier feature is always active and doesn’t reset the value back to x1 if you don’t win.

Another feature of the Fugly Pets slot game is the Roadkill symbol (burning tire). This symbol only lands on the fifth reel. This symbol moves from right to left, and it can either destroy a symbol, turn it into a Wild, or leave symbols unchanged. If there are destroyed symbols, it will trigger a drop of new symbols.

Fugly Pets also presents the Super Symbol. These can drop onto any reel and be twice the size, three times the size, or four times the size of a normal symbol. When they drop, they fall to the bottom of the reel, removing all below it. New symbols will then drop into the vacant space made above them.

You will notice a star icon to the right of the game. This is the Bonus Buy slots feature that allows you to pay for your free spins experience. Ten spins = 100x your bet cost. 12 spins = 125x your bet, and 15 free spins = 165x your bet. 

I really like the look of this game, and given that the genre of animal theme slots is far too cute, seeing scabby unwanted animals makes a change. I loaded this game in my favorite online casino, made my deposit, and played 50 spins at $2 per spin.

The gameplay is evenly balanced. You can go ten spins and hit nothing; then you land five wins in a row, and then it goes quiet again. After 25 spins, I was only slightly down on the bankroll. My highest individual win so far is $9.20. With ten spins left, I only once landed a win with the multiplier feature having an impact, but even then, I’m now way off from where my balance started. 

With all 50 spins played, the experience was somewhat average. I’ve played worse games, but I’ve also played better. This really is the middle of the road, a bit like roadkill. 

The maximum you can win is capped at 5,000 times your wager. This means that by betting at $50 per spin, you can only gain a jackpot return of $250,000! The volatility programmed into this game is medium/high, and it kind of shows in its performance. The RTP is calculated to be 96 percent, which is about average. 

I would recommend this game for several reasons. Value for money is the first reason. A max bet of $50 and a return of $250,000 is a very good value. The design of the game, though not new, is still refreshing to see. Stakelogic is a good gaming company, and this game isn’t even at its best, but it plays better than a lot of others in the market.
