"Snooker player Mark King has told The Sun newspaper that his granny influenced his gambling.  

"The snooker player who was banned for five years in 2023 for match-fixing told The Sun that he used to play games for money with his grandmother, and he liked to play slot machines as well as place bets on horse racing.  

"The Gambling Commission has revealed that numbers have doubled at one of its engagement events in London. Speaking about the event, which was held at the Oval in London, Danielle Trigg, Director of Licensing, said, “We are really pleased to say that this event has doubled in size in six months and with it only being our second one, which is absolutely amazing.” 

"American casino company Bally’s will take the controlling interest in Australia’s Star Entertainment Group after the two firms confirmed a deal worth A$300 million ($178.6 million). 

"Bally’s will pay that sum in exchange for notes convertible to 56.7% of Star shares, allowing Bally’s to have the majority interest in Star if the deal goes through. 

"In a significant crackdown on betting-related crime, the Gambling Commission has announced that it has charged 15 individuals with various offences under the Gambling Act of 2005 — in what could rival a high-stakes casino scandal. 

"The charges follow an extensive investigation into alleged cheating associated with bets placed on the timing of the upcoming 2024 general election, with the investigation having been launched in June 2024. 

"The vibrant city of Toronto played host to two inspiring events celebrating the empowerment and advancement of women in the gaming industry.
