Brighton has always been a city that does things on its own terms, and its casino scene is no exception. With the closure of the Rendezvous at Brighton Marina in 2025, the city is now down to just two venues. But what remains is a genuinely interesting pair, with two of the UK's biggest operators taking very different approaches to what a night at the casino should look like. Whether you want a full-on entertainment complex or an intimate boutique experience, Brighton has you covered.
Genting landed in the UK back in 2006, backed by a global empire that stretches from Kuala Lumpur to Las Vegas. Brighton's Genting offering takes a deliberately different path from its city rival. It's smaller, more intimate, and with the kind of warm, personal service that bigger venues often struggle to replicate. It's the kind of place where the staff actually remember your face.
Grosvenor is the UK's largest casino operator, with roots going back to 1970 and over 50 venues across the country. Brighton's Grosvenor venue is one of the most distinctive in the chain. Rather than following the traditional casino-first template, it's been reimagined as a three-floor entertainment complex that happens to have a casino at its heart. Think less hushed gaming floor, more buzzing night out.
Two very different venues serve Brighton's casino crowd, sitting about half a mile apart near the seafront. Neither is trying to be the other. Which is exactly why both are worth knowing about. Your choice will probably come down to what kind of night you're after, so let me explain what eac offers.
Pier Nine is one heck of a destination. It offers three floors of bars and eateries, a classic casino, retro and digital gaming, all housed in a former Art Deco cinema with stunning views of the seafront. The venue underwent a significant £1 million refurbishment in 2019 with the intention of transforming it into somewhere that offers an array of different activities all under one roof. And it'd be very fair to say it succeeded. Pool tables, darts, karaoke, a private cinema room, a sports bar with Brighton's largest indoor screen, and yes, a casino. If you're coming with a group, this is the obvious pick.
The casino itself features over 40 slot machines and electronic roulette terminals alongside live tables for roulette, blackjack, and three card poker, plus a dedicated poker room. It's worth considering that the more casual, multi-activity atmosphere doesn't suit everyone. Seasoned casino visitors who want a focused gaming experience sometimes find the vibe a little chaotic here. But for a group night out by the sea, it's hard to beat.
Known as the Mint Casino in another and recent life, Genting's Brighton venue sits just off Regency Square. it's but steps from the seafront and surrounded by some of the best restaurants and bars in the city. This site is a deliberately boutique operation, more compact, stylishly decorated, and with the kind of atmosphere that feels more members' club than casino floor. A £500,000 refurbishment in 2014 updated the décor throughout and added a stylish bar area. And reviews consistently single out the warmth and attentiveness of the staff as one of the venue's standout qualities.
The gaming floor offers seven live tables covering roulette, blackjack, baccarat, and three card poker, backed up by virtual roulette terminals, electronic baccarat stations, and a selection of slots. The venue's open daily from 2:00pm to 5:00am, so that is a later start than Grosvenor. If you're planning an afternoon visit, check ahead. Slot tournaments and electronic roulette tournaments run regularly, and the Late Bar keeps things going through to closing. If Grosvenor is Brighton's big night out, Genting is its best-kept secret.
Brighton's casinos are at their best when you walk in with a plan. Think budget, a time limit, and the understanding that any money you spend is the price of a good night rather than an investment. Keep it in that spirit and you're almost guaranteed a great time.
If gambling ever starts to feel like more than entertainment, the National Gambling Helpline (0808 8020 133) is available around the clock, and BeGambleAware and GAMSTOP both offer free self-exclusion tools and practical support. Both Brighton casinos are licensed and part of national self-exclusion schemes. Should you ever want to take a step back, that option is there and straightforward to access.

Important: The legal gambling age in the UK is 18, including for all casinos in Brighton. Individual venues may also apply their own entry policies, so it’s recommended to check ahead before visiting.
