Like a lot of slot players, we are fond of a Viking-themed title. Norse mythology and the world of the Vikings have given us plenty of memorable titles, with the likes of Yggdrasil’s Volatile Vikings being an excellent example of how to do the genre justice. Pragmatic Play has again gone to the theme with the Viking Forge slot, a game that centers around a payment collection mechanic and some other bonus features. In this Viking Forge slot review, we will share our thoughts on the game and analyze its key features.

We have come to expect good things from Pragmatic Play on the design front, and Viking Forge does not disappoint. The slot has a great design and a colorful palette that helps bring the action to life.
The reels are set on a cold landscape, with a forge bubbling beneath the surface. The reels themselves are bordered by some grand, Norse-inspired columns, with the reels containing imagery like Thor’s hammer, meads, and various pieces of weaponry. When the game moves into the free spins round, the background shifts, the forge coming to life and filling the background with lava. We found this round to look particularly striking, with the bright reds and oranges bursting off the screen.
As part of our Viking Forge slot review, we tested the slot on multiple devices, including a smartphone and an iPad. We used an Android phone for the slot and found that there were no latency issues at all, with the game making an easy transition to the different screen sizes. We particularly enjoyed taking Viking Forge for a spin on a tablet, as the game's bright colors looked excellent on the high-quality screen.
Pragmatic Play has kept the base game simple in the Viking Forge slot. The game uses six reels, five rows, and a Scatter Pay mechanic. For this, you will need to land eight symbols anywhere across the grid to secure a win.
Whenever you land a win, a Tumble sequence is triggered. Winning symbols get removed from the grid, and new ones fall from the top. This will keep happening until no wins are landed.
The control panel for the game is found beneath the reels. The minimum bet is $0.20, and the maximum is $300 if you choose to play with the Ante bet. We found this to be a really nice betting range that gives us plenty of flexibility to match our playing budget.
There are two main bonus features in the Viking Forge slot, both of which we found to be highly engaging. The Coin Collection feature is one of the main attractions. Whenever a symbol lands with a coin on it, it will display values of up to 10x. If a coin overlay symbol is part of a winning combo, then the coin is collected in a meter. At the end of a Tumble sequence, the meter with all of the values collected is paid out.
Landing four or more scatters is your way into the free spins bonus. Four, five, or six scatters will trigger 10, 20, or 30 spins, respectively. During the round, the meter collects coins until the very end of the spins, and not just the end of a Tumble. All collected coins are paid at the end of the round.
It is also possible to buy your way into the Viking Forge free spins round for 100x your stake.
The Viking Forge math model is similar to what we have come to expect from Pragmatic Play. The maximum win in the game is 10,000x your stake, which we have seen in other titles from the developer. The RTP is 96.05%, around average, and the game is considered highly volatile.
We found a lot to like about the Viking Forge slot. Pragmatic Play always does an excellent job with the Scatter Pay mechanic, and they have done so once again with Viking Forge. The Coin Collection feature, when combined with the Tumble mechanic, was particularly fruitful for us and is going to be one of the game’s biggest selling points. While the math model is fairly standard stuff from Pragmatic Play, the design and the gameplay make this one more attractive. We are more than happy to recommend taking Viking Forge for a spin at the best online casinos featured on our site.
