Dracula first made his debut in the public consciousness all the way back in 1897. Nearly 150 years since, the character has been brought to life in all sorts of different ways. Play'n GO has found another new spin to put on the character, this time merging him with a joker symbol in the Count Jokula online slot game. Mixing a Joker with Count Dracula is, on the face of it, a concept perfect for an online slot experience, but does it manage to deliver anything other than this? Let’s take a look at this Count Jokula online slot review and find out.

Play’n GO has opted for an old-school style set-up with Count Jokula and as such, it has kept its design rather basic. The reels are lined with gold and the background for the game is some sort of purple wallpaper. Count Jokula himself has quite a fun design and there is a quirky-looking bat version of the character that also makes an appearance on the reels. Other than this, the game sticks with fruit-machine-style symbols to fill its grid.
Sticking with the retro and simplistic theme, Count Jokula is a very easy slot to get used to. The slot game uses a 3x2 grid with just five paylines, all of which are active on every spin.
The stake for the game is adjusted under the reels, with the game offering a minimum bet of $0.05 and a maximum of $100. The lowest options here will definitely appeal to players that are on smaller budgets.
There is also the standard Autospin feature available. There is very little else of note about the base gameplay here, with Play’n GO clearly making this for those who like a classic slot experience.
The simple design of the Count Jokula slot game means that it has no problems making the switch to be played on a smaller screen. Like most free new slots, Count Jokula has been fully optimized to ensure it works across a variety of different devices and operating systems.
Unlike most retro-themed slot games, Play’n GO has decided to give the Count Jokula slot game a couple of bonus features to help keep the game exciting and to boost the chances of scoring a half-decent win.
Firstly, there is the Shapeshifter Symbol. This one leans into Dracula’s mythology, with the Bat symbol having the potential to transform into a Joker Wild. This can happen at random on any non-win spin and will create a winning combination.
The other main bonus here is a respin round called the Respins of Evil. If a win happens with the Joker Wild on the middle reel, then it becomes sticky and a respin is triggered. This is also where the multiplier trail below the reels becomes active. This will increase for every subsequent respin, with the game respinning if you land another win. A non-winning spin will bring an end to the round. It is possible to get a multiplier of up to 20x on the trail. This resets at the end of the round.
Given its basic retro set-up, the Count Jokula slot game does offer players a maximum win of up to 1,500x their overall stake. It does not state how this is won, but it seems safe to assume it would be through an extended spell with the Respins of Evil. The RTP for the slot is 96.25%, though, there are lower versions of this available so be sure to check and move to another top online slot site if it is lower. The slot has been given a medium volatility rating from Play’n GO.
There are so many retro-themed slot games on the market that Play’n GO deserves a little bit of credit for giving one a slight makeover. The Count Jokula slot features all of the trademarks of a fruit-machine-style game, only with the main character being given a transformation and the addition of some bonus features. There is some good winning potential here, but it feels as though you could be playing for as long as Dracula has been around until you see any of it. It’s a good effort, and it will please those who like retro titles. Those looking for something a bit more complex and engaging may want to look elsewhere at our recommended slot casinos.
