Aztec Treasure Hunt is another Aztec-themed slot by Pragmatic Play. I say another, as it has all the elements of an Aztec bonanza, including the look and gameplay features. The slot sticks to what Pragmatic Play does best. That means excellent graphics and going light on the special features.
The action takes place in a jungle. The core focus of this game is the collect mechanic, with the wild in the center of it all. It’s not the most innovative slot we’ve seen, but it can still pay frequently and offers decent returns. Plus, it’s much simpler to play than other slots of its ilk, and that’s something many online casino players will appreciate.
If you’re in for another jungle mystery, then Aztec Treasure Hunt is a great pick. It won’t do much to impress high rollers, but it’ll work great for new players and those who don’t like complex features. Read my Aztec Treasure Hunt review below to see if it’s the right fit.

I must give Pragmatic Play credit where it’s due – the developer’s slots always look great. Whether it’s a cartoonish slot or an almost photorealistic game such as this one, the visuals are always top-notch. On top of that, the design and layout are almost always the same across all of the studio’s slots. This makes playing each game easy, and Aztec Treasure Hunt is no exception.
As an Aztec-themed slot, all the symbols draw inspiration from the ancient culture. They include a war chief and a female warrior, as well as all kinds of weapons. To the right, you’ll see a wooden chest and a totem – more on them later. The action is accompanied by an epic soundtrack that is right in line with the slot’s visuals and gameplay features.
I think there are too many collect slots out there at the moment, so it’s not the most innovative title.
Place a bet from 20c and $100 and click the spin button to play the Aztec Treasure Hunt online slot. It has a 5x3 reel set with 20 paylines. Wins are formed for three or more matching symbols on an active line. Wilds play a central role in this slot. They not only substitute for other symbols in winning combinations, but they also play the role of a collector.
Money symbols can land on all reels in all stages of the game. They carry values between 0.5x and 50x. Landing them does nothing unless there’s a wild collector on the same spin. It can collect all prizes in sight in a single swoop. The wild collector lands with random multipliers between x2 and x50, further boosting your wins.
This is the slot's only special feature in the base game.
Five or more money symbols on the reels trigger the Aztec Treasure Hunt bonus round. You receive nine free spins. The chest on the right side collects the total value of the triggering symbols. It also holds all money values collected from the reels in the base game.
Every wild that lands collects the bonus pot. Just like in the base game, wilds can land with multipliers. Land five or more money symbols again to claim three extra spins.
If you’re impatient, you can buy your way into the bonus round for 100x the bet.
I’m going to be honest and admit I don’t like Aztec-themed slots so much. With the exception of a few, they are rarely packed with bonus features. This one sits somewhere in the middle. There aren’t many specials, but you have a collect feature and a free spins round. I think there are too many collect slots out there at the moment, so it’s not the most innovative title.
That being said, I started with bets of $1 and hit some decent wins thanks to this mechanic. At one time, a multiplier wild worth x5 hit the reels, although it only boosted a low-paying combo. Nevertheless, the slot pays decent returns, and it has a buy bonus feature, too, which I used to get to the free spins round.
It was ok, although it would have been better if I had managed to collect more symbols in the chest. Overall, it was a solid experience but nothing groundbreaking.
The Aztec Treasure Hunt slot is a highly volatile affair with an RTP of 96.03%. Its maximum projected win is 5,000x the bet.
Aztec Treasure Hunt is a decent slot game with average features. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel with its collection feature nor the free spins round. But, it still looks great by Pragmatic Play standards, and those wild multipliers can lead to some wild wins.
There are more innovative Aztec-themed slots out there, including Aztec Triple Riches Power Combo. Aztec Gods is another decent release you should try your luck on.
