The realm of Asgard has really been having a moment in popular culture since the 2010s. Franchises like Thor and God of War have tapped into the inherent badassery of the Kingdom and brought it into the public conscience. It’s no surprise, then, that slot developers have latched onto it, with hordes of Asgardian-themed slots being released each year. Asgardian Fire, from the team at Neon Valley Studios and Games Global, is one of the best-looking on the global online casino market, captivating audiences with a stunning design, but do the features and winning potential match up to this? Let’s find out in this Asgardian Fire slot review.

As we mentioned in the intro to this Asgardian Fire review, the design of this game is incredible. Neon Valley has really gone to great lengths with this one. The reels are positioned in the middle of a baron Asgard, with an intricate border featuring Viking helmets and Norse symbols. Lava runs around the reels, giving the slot an intense glow, one which is only amplified by the size and color of the symbols on the reels.
There are loads of Asgardian-themed slots out there, but you will be hard-pressed to find one that looks as excellent as Asgardian Fire.
You can enjoy the intensity of the Asgardian Fire slot on a range of different mobile devices and operating systems. The game will run on Android and iOS systems and is available on smartphones and tablets.
The Asgardian Fire slot uses a 6x4 grid with 4,096 ways to win to begin with. Whenever a player lands a win, they are removed from the reels and replaced with new ones, with an additional row being added to the action. These features are called Rolling Reels and Escalating Ways.
The maximum number of rows is eight, increasing the number of ways to win to 262,144. If you are wondering where you have seen this set-up before, it has been commonly used by ELK Studios on titles like Ecuador Gold and Voodoo Gold.
The stake is adjusted beneath the reels, with a minimum available of $0.20 and a maximum of $50. This fairly middle-of-the-road range will satisfy most low to mid-range budgets.
There is plenty of fun to be had in the Asgardian Fire bonus rounds. The first bonus you are probably going to notice, other than the aforementioned Rolling Reels and Escalating Ways, is the Jumbo Blocks. These are giant block symbols that can appear on any reel but the first. These can be 2x2, 3x3, or 4x4 in size. If a Jumbo Block lands and there is a space beneath it, then wilds will be added to fill the space.
Whenever a scatter lands, it will activate the Second Chance bonus. For this, up to 12 symbols around the scatter will explode, triggering a cascading sequence. Only standard symbols can explode.
Landing three scatters will reward six spins, with three additional spins for every additional scatter on the reels. At the start of the round, the Upsize Feature will allow you to upgrade your spins for a pre-determined cost.
On each spin in the round, an additional row is added and will be locked in, thus ensuring that the whole grid will become active during the round.
You can also get into the free spins bonus by using the Buy Bonus feature. The cheapest option for this is to buy six free spins for 70x your bet, while the most expensive is 300x your bet for 25 spins.
Despite all of its grandiose presentation and exciting bonus features, Asgardian Fire only offers a maximum win of 5,000x your stake, which, while not terrible, does feel a little disappointing. The RTP of the slot is 96%, which is around the industry average, and it has been graded as highly volatile.
The Asgardian Fire slot certainly manages to pack a few punches, even if it is a little disappointing in the maximum win department. The game has a fantastic design, which really helps to distinguish it from other Asgardian or Norse-themed slots. The base game and bonuses are excellent, though they have clearly taken inspiration from some of ELK Studio’s titles. On the whole, this video slot is definitely worth checking out — it could have just benefitted from some bigger potential wins.
