The design of A Flight of Fortune is quite a lot of fun, with the game taking players deep into the jungle of some sort of deserted, paradise-like island. Toucans and an array of other birds fly up and down the reels, and the game’s use of animations really helps to bring the action to life. The slot uses a different payment technique that I will get to later in this A Flight of Fortune review, but I found the animations did a good initial job of helping me understand what was happening. 

Outside of this, there is not a lot else going on with the game; the visuals are charming enough, and the soundtrack is pleasant enough not to have me reaching for the mute button the moment I started spinning the reels. 

Crazy Tooth Studios has a history of using unique gameplay mechanics, and they have done it once again with the A Flight of Fortune slot. The slot uses a five-by-four game grid, but there are no traditional paylines or symbols. Instead, the slot uses a mechanic it calls CoinVerge. 

Numbers that land on the grid and animated birds that fly between them. If a bird lands on either side of a set of symbols, it creates a bracket, and the symbols inside that bracket are paid out. 

It’s a novel concept that feels interesting but runs dry quite quickly, and it feels like they could have been more creative with it. 

Unsurprisingly, the bonus features tie in with CoinVerge pay mechanic. Special symbols can land inside a bracket and will reward modifiers and bonuses. These symbols are as follows: 

• Multiplier Coins: These can be up to 5x and will reward the areas they are in. 
• Upgrade Coin: All low and medium coins are upgraded. 
• Collect Column Coin: It adds all active coins into one area for the current spin. 
• Collect All Coin: Collects all coins on the grid into the active payment area. 
• Respin Coin: Trigger the respin feature. 

During the respin, coins inside the collection area are awarded and repopulated with new coins for the given number of spins. You can trigger a maximum of eight respins. 

The slot also has a Nudge feature that can trigger on any random spin. When this activates, it nudges a bracket up or down to match the row of another bracket, creating a larger collection area. 

The game has three fixed jackpots – the Major, Minor, and Mini – which are collected throughout the game. When you land three or more Jungle Prize Overlay symbols in a collection area, the corresponding Jungle Prize is paid out. The values are then reset. 

I took the A Flight of Fortune slot game for a spin on a laptop using Google Chrome and Safari, with no discernable differences between the two. The game also looks great on mobile devices, with its colorful design really popping off the smaller screen.

However, I think with additional modifiers and bonuses, this is a model that could be tweaked and could be more engaging in the future. For now, though, it feels like a bit of a novelty slot.
