Chinook Winds Casino Review for June 2026

There are casino resorts in scenic locations, and then there is Chinook Winds. The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians built their casino on the Oregon Coast in Lincoln City, and positioned it directly on the Pacific Ocean.

The setting is extraordinary - rolling waves, salt air, beach access right at your doorstep, and a backdrop of Oregon Coast scenery that makes every other casino's "mountain views" feel slightly inadequate. This is one of the most beautifully located casino resorts in the United States, and it makes the most of that location at every turn.

The property is owned and operated by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, whose historical territory spanned much of the Oregon Coast. Chinook Winds has become the economic engine that funds tribal services, housing, healthcare, and education for tribe members across the region, a role the property takes seriously both in its community engagement and in its hospitality standards.

Getting There

Chinook Winds sits at 1777 NW 44th Street in Lincoln City, directly on US-101, the iconic Pacific Coast Highway. From Portland the drive runs approximately 90 miles and takes around two hours via OR-18 through the Coast Range. The coastal scenery on the final approach to Lincoln City is some of the most beautiful driving in the Pacific Northwest. Free parking is available on site. For visitors who prefer not to drive, Chinook Winds operates a monthly shuttle service from Portland metro and mid-Willamette Valley locations at $75 per person, a genuinely useful service for a casino at this distance from Oregon's largest city. The casino is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Casino Review

The casino floor at Chinook Winds is smoke-free throughout, which combined with the oceanfront location, gives the property one of the most comfortable gaming atmospheres of any casino on the West Coast. The layout is well organized across a spacious single-level floor, with slots dominating the main space, table games in their own section, and the bingo hall as a separate destination.

Unlike Minnesota's tribal casinos, Oregon's tribal gaming compact permits a full range of table games including craps and roulette, which gives Chinook Winds a complete table lineup. The sportsbook is a notable amenity for an Oregon Coast casino, giving the property a betting dimension that is not universally available across the state's tribal gaming portfolio.

Table Games

The table games selection at Chinook Winds is comprehensive for a property of this size. On my visit the lineup included:

  • Blackjack (from $3 minimum)
  • Craps
  • Roulette
  • Three Card Poker
  • Fortune Pai Gow Poker
  • Bonus Let-It-Ride
  • Ultimate Texas Hold'em

A high-stakes lounge is available for players who prefer elevated limits and a more private environment. There is no dedicated poker room at this property.

Slots

With over 1,100 slot machines across the smoke-free floor, Chinook Winds has a solid and well-maintained selection for a resort of this scale. The range covers penny games through to high denomination machines, with the dedicated high-stakes lounge providing a more elevated experience for players who prefer bigger stakes. The floor is regularly updated with new titles alongside the established crowd favorites.

Sportsbook

Chinook Winds offers sports wagering on the casino floor, which is a notable and useful amenity for an Oregon coastal property. Wagering covers major professional and college sports, and the sportsbook area provides a comfortable environment for watching and betting on games.

Rewards Club

Chinook Winds Rewards is the property's loyalty program, free to join and described by the casino as the Pacific Northwest's most rewarding player's club. Members earn points through slot and table game play, redeemable for dining, hotel stays, show tickets, rounds of golf, or cash. The program runs regular promotions, drawings, and exclusive member events throughout the year.

Hotel Review

The hotel at Chinook Winds is positioned directly on the Pacific Ocean, and ocean-view rooms are the property's most prized accommodation. The rooms and suites are well-appointed with ocean views, complimentary WiFi, and standard hotel amenities. One practical note worth knowing: the hotel building is separate from the casino, with a complimentary shuttle service connecting the two. It is a minor inconvenience but a well-managed one, and the trade-off of rooms with unobstructed ocean views, is more than worth it.

The rooms have drawn some mixed feedback on consistency of maintenance, and the property's age shows in places. The best approach is to book an ocean-view room and enjoy the location, which genuinely delivers on the promise of a Pacific Coast getaway.

Where to Eat

Chinook Winds has six dining options covering a good spread of appetites and budgets.

RestaurantCuisinePrice
Chinook's Seafood GrillPacific Northwest seafood$$$
Rogue River SteakhouseAmerican steakhouse$$$
Siletz Bay BuffetAmerican and international spread$$
Aces Sports Bar and GrillCasual American, bar fare$$
Euchre Creek DeliSandwiches, quick bites$
Double Down Coffee and EspressoCoffee, pastries$

Chinook's Seafood Grill is the standout and the most appropriate restaurant for the setting; fresh Pacific Northwest seafood on the Oregon Coast is about as natural a match as dining gets. The Rogue River Steakhouse provides the fine dining steak option for guests who prefer land over sea. Aces Sports Bar is the lively casual choice, popular during game days with its bar fare and multiple screens. The Siletz Bay Buffet and Euchre Creek Deli handle the quick and casual ends of the spectrum for players who want to eat without leaving the property for long.

Pool and Spa

Chinook Winds has an indoor pool available for hotel guests. A fitness center is also on site. There is no full-service spa, though the Wave Spa tagline appears in some older marketing, current amenities are more modest than a full-service facility. So keep that in mind when you are looking for good spa destinations.

Entertainment

Chinook Winds hosts a regular calendar of live entertainment including concerts and comedy shows throughout the year. The 600-seat bingo hall is one of the largest and most active on the Oregon Coast and draws a dedicated regular audience for its daily matinee and evening sessions. The property also hosts the Lincoln County Fair and Rodeo annually, which is a distinctive community event that brings the surrounding county together on the casino grounds.

An 18-hole golf course adjacent to the property gives guests a Pacific Northwest coastal golf experience, with course views that take full advantage of the scenery.

Verdict

Chinook Winds Casino Resort's greatest asset is its location, and it is a considerable one. A smoke-free oceanfront casino on the Oregon Coast with a full table game lineup, a sportsbook, fresh Pacific Northwest seafood, and beach access directly outside the hotel door is a genuinely compelling combination. For residents of the Willamette Valley and Portland metropolitan area, it represents the best coastal gaming option within a reasonable drive.

The hotel's age and maintenance consistency are the most honest limitations, and visitors should arrive with realistic expectations for the accommodation relative to newer resort properties. The gaming floor is solid, the setting is unmatched, and the coastal Oregon experience begins the moment you step outside the casino doors. Sometimes location really is everything.
