Use the map below to explore where New Jersey’s land-based casinos and racetracks are located, with all casino resorts concentrated in Atlantic City and major racing venues situated in other parts of the state.

There are nine casinos in NJ, all based in Atlantic City. Each is a fully serviced resort, considered a Class III casino under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). This means you can expect everything on the gaming floor: poker, slots, roulette, craps, and retail sportsbooks.
Let’s take a closer look at what you can experience within the nine casinos in New Jersey.
Step into the iconic Borgata and indulge in the refined surroundings of their hotel and spa. When you’re not poolside, pull a seat up at any one of the tables where you can play your choice of blackjack, roulette, craps, or baccarat. Beyond the tables, the resort also offers an expansive gaming floor and a dedicated poker room that attracts players from across the region.
Anyone up for an after-dark pool party? What if they add a few A-list DJs? You don’t have to be a night owl to appreciate Harrah's Casino events, as it caters to those who just want to enjoy live shows, eat good food, and play traditional casino games. The resort’s lively waterfront setting adds to the energy, making it a popular destination for nightlife and entertainment.
The celebrity-endorsed Hard Rock Casino is a brand known around the world. Why not make a stay of it and take in the live entertainment, cafes, shops, and games, including their Hard Rock Sportsbook. The vibrant gaming floor blends modern design with music memorabilia, creating an atmosphere that captures the brand’s signature rock-and-roll energy.
Define the term ‘go big or go home’. Well, Ocean Casino did, and in stupendous style. This entertainment haven provides esteemed guests with spa treatments, mini golf, dining experiences, live events, table games, and slots. Floor-to-ceiling ocean views and a spacious layout give the casino a bright, open feel that sets it apart on the Atlantic City boardwalk.
The world-famous Caesars has taken residency here in Atlantic City to provide its members with a touch of class and Roman-style. Make your booking for the shows, restaurant, and hotel, and once inside, give in to the casino and sportsbook services. Elegant columns, statues, and Roman-inspired décor create an atmosphere of grandeur throughout the property.
If your journey to the NJ state comes with doctor’s orders for rest and enjoyment, then Tropicana can help. Reserve your room and live show, and enjoy delicious dining or a shopping spree all before you head to the casino and sportsbook services. The resort’s vibrant Havana-themed Quarter adds a splash of color and culture to the overall experience.
Bally's Casino has room to stay and plenty in which to play. Before you fill up on the video poker and slot machines, take on the pleasures of dining within one of the many food establishments. To wind down, you’ve plenty of live entertainment to help see the night in. Its location along the boardwalk also makes it an easy stop for visitors exploring Atlantic City’s seaside attractions.
What doesn’t the Resorts Casino have here in Atlantic City? If you’re after the All-in Experience, then buckle up, cause your trip to this casino will be so worth the ride. As Atlantic City’s oldest casino resort, it blends classic charm with modern entertainment options. There is every casino game under the sun, with sports betting, live entertainment, and fine dining. Bon Appétit!
Take in those ocean views and sea air when you arrive at the Golden Nugget and immediately relax and feel at home. Once unpacked, indulge in finer things like the spa, perhaps get a taste of Lillie’s Asian Cuisine, or try your luck on the tables and slot machines. Set along the marina, the property offers a quieter, upscale atmosphere away from the bustle of the boardwalk.
If you’re a card shark and are on the hunt for a poker table, then know that such games are only exclusive within multi-game casinos. It’s also good to know that here in Atlantic City, there are two kinds of poker. One in which you play against rivals in a player-vs-player (PvP) setup or within house-banked tables, where players are against the casino.
At the moment, only three NJ operators provide PvP games: Borgata, Harrah’s, and Tropicana. Common poker games available include No-Limit Hold ’Em, Limit Hold ’Em, Pot-Limit Hold ’Em, and Mixed/Stud Poker.
If you have more of a taste for House-Banked poker, the common games are Three Card Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold ’Em, Pai Gow Poker, and Mississippi Stud. If you want the best of both worlds, Borgata has the largest selection of poker tables with the most established poker rooms. Other casinos in Atlantic City offer a smaller variety, with seasonal operations for some.

For the horse racing fans among you, when you head out here to New Jersey, you can check out two racetracks, should you wish to indulge in a spot of live racing and simulcast wagering. Make your way to Meadowlands, where you can enjoy thoroughbred and harness racing.
Head south to Monmouth Park for a host of live thoroughbred racing events, which can also be experienced via the Caesars Sportsbook retail service. That’s seven days of sports betting from 11 am to 11 pm Monday to Friday and 10 am to 11 pm on weekends.
These NJ racetracks are solely sporting establishments and do not offer alternative casino games such as tables or slot machines.

Due to constitutional restrictions that limit gambling to just Atlantic City, NJ does not provide racino operations.
Sports betting expanded across New Jersey in 2018, opening the door for in-person wagering at approved venues throughout the state. Rather than building standalone betting locations, retail sportsbooks were introduced inside existing gambling venues, particularly within Atlantic City casino resorts and select racetracks.
Today, every Atlantic City casino operates an on-site sportsbook area where visitors can place wagers in person. These spaces typically feature staffed betting windows, self-service kiosks, large viewing screens for live events, and lounge-style seating for watching games. Sportsbook brands operating inside New Jersey casino resorts include familiar names such as Caesars Sportsbook, BetMGM, DraftKings, FanDuel, and Fanatics, depending on the property.
Beyond Atlantic City, retail sportsbooks are also available at two of the state’s major racetracks. Meadowlands Racing & Entertainment in East Rutherford hosts a large FanDuel-branded sportsbook, while Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport features a Caesars Sportsbook facility. Both venues combine live racing schedules with in-person sports wagering, providing an alternative to the casino setting.
Access to retail sportsbooks in New Jersey comes with a minimum age requirement of 21, consistent with casino gaming. Visitors must also be physically present within state boundaries when placing wagers, even when using self-service betting kiosks located inside these venues. Valid government-issued identification may be required upon entry or when placing certain bets.
For visitors exploring New Jersey casinos, retail sportsbooks are now a standard part of the experience, offering another entertainment option alongside traditional casino games and horse racing.
Land-based gambling in NJ should be fun and approached with nothing more than the mindset of ‘just see what happens’, because luck determines everything. We always advise playing with a smile and to stop when this is no longer the case.
Play to what you can afford to lose, and in that time, who knows what might happen. Winning does occur, and on nights when it's not going your way, take a break, enjoy some food, retreat to your hotel room, hit the spa or the pool, and don’t let anything get to you. Play smart, budget your finances, and gamble with a responsible head on your shoulders. Winning doesn’t have to come in that moment when you think you feel it can happen. Hopefully, you visit our state for more than just a few hours, and if over the course of a week, maybe your luck comes in on a different day.
All venues support responsible play, and if you want, you can sign up for the self-exclusion program offered by the Division of Gaming Enforcement. Call 1-833-788-4DGE, and you can exclude yourself from certain services, like the casinos or just the racetracks. It’s the same service offered by the New Jersey Gambling Helpline on 1-800-GAMBLER.
Only you can decide if your trip to the Garden State is one that you positively remember. Think about the bigger picture.
