Grab your chariot and keep your sword sharp because you’ll be on a wild ride in Red Tiger’s Roman Emperors slot. Based on the mighty Roman Empire, the slot has a highly volatile math model with a 5x3 setup. As always, it features Red Tiger’s high-production values, so you can expect an impeccable audio-visual experience.
The slot is available to play for free right now at the top online casinos with Red Tiger. The classical setting will surely be a huge draw for history buffs. You can win across 25 paylines with a traditional math model, making the gameplay easy to follow.
A few iconic Roman emperors make an appearance, too, on the middle reels. Each of these reels has a unique bar that’s filled by landing the right symbols. They can trigger the corresponding emperor’s royal feature, spicing up the gameplay accordingly.
In addition to this feature, the slot has a free spin round. Its winning potential all but touches 8,500x the bet, so this ancient Rome time machine is more than worth your while. Read my Roman Emperors online slot review below and see if it’s the right fit for you.

Roman Emperors is designed to fit the narrative. The reels are flanked by marble columns enriched with gold accents. Right below the reels, you can see an inscription: Fortuna Ac Felicitas. My Latin is not that strong, but translation models say it means Fortune and Happiness. It’s a nice touch and a message that might grant fortune on your spins.
The slot looks great visually. The graphics are sharp, and the emperors are designed with great detail. An epic soundtrack can be heard in the background, and the sound effects are right on point, too.
The layout is a standard Red Tiger slot. I found it easy to play at the best online casinos on any device, including mobile smartphones running Android and iOS. You can also read our guide and find the best slots for mobile devices.
Roman Emperors is no ground-breaking slot. It’s still fun to play, mostly because of the emperor’s features.
The action in the Roman Emperors slot begins when you choose a bet and click the spin button. Pick a bet from 10c to $10 per spin and let the games begin. As usual, you need three or more matching symbols to land a win. The highest payouts are for five premiums which pay up to 20x the bet.
Wilds can substitute for any other symbol in a winning combination. They also pay 40x when you land five, which is double the premiums. However, the show's real stars are the three Roman emperors who come to life under specific conditions.
Those emperors are Caesar, Crassus, and Pompey. They correspond to the power bars above the middle reels. Each power bar needs three symbols to be filled. Landing a silver SPQR symbol adds one point to the respective bar. Golden SPQR symbols add one point to all bars. The reels can only accommodate a maximum of three silver SPQR symbols and one golden symbol. Once a bar is filled, it unleashes that emperor’s unique feature.
If you hit a win during the respin, another one will follow. This process will continue endlessly as long as you hit wins. You could be in for large wins with the emperors’ powers active on respins.
Two scatters on the first and last reels trigger 12 free spins. This can only happen during the base game, as scatters don’t land during the Emperor respins. The power bars are removed for the duration of the bonus round. This means you don’t need to fill them. Instead, every silver SPQR symbol triggers the feature on the respective reel. Gold SPQR symbols trigger all three features altogether.
Land two or more scatters on the reels during the bonus to retrigger the bonus round (+12 free spins). There’s also the bonus buy feature, where you can get free spins for 50x the bet.
Roman Emperor was a fun slot to play, mostly because of the emperor's features. I started with a bet of $1 due to the high volatility. The slot offered wins on average for every third spin, which was OK. Didn’t hit a big win during the base game – that came later with the emperor features.
I managed to trigger Caesar and Pompey, and the respins paid well. Couldn’t get more than three in a row, though. But, in my experience, this feature is decently rewarding, especially if you could get more respins.
It took around 50-60 spins to reach the free spins round. It paid only 40x, so it wasn’t as rewarding as I hoped. It would have been better to pay for the feature early, especially if the cost was in the 60-70x price range.
Roman Emperors is a highly volatile slot with an RTP of 95.76%. Most of Red Tiger’s volatile slots are in that RTP range. The maximum payout is 8,940x the bet.
Roman Emperors is no ground-breaking slot. It’s still fun to play, mostly because of the emperor’s features. I think it would have been even better to add another special to the mix, but it is what it is. It’s another Red Tiger hit with great graphics and decent payout potential if you’re hunting for big wins in top rated online casinos.
If you’re looking to stay in the ancient Rome niche, I suggest trying Bang Bang Games’ Roamin’ Romans Ultra Nudge. For a more classic experience, you can go for Gamomat’s Roman Legion.
