In true Red Tiger fashion, they just can’t help injecting an older game with the Megaways feature. Now, I think this company is easily one of the top ten game makers in the business, but they just ought to let games be.
But here we are, the release of Primate King Megaways. Yes, “The King Is Back”. I really liked the first original slot, so I’m expecting the same qualities, except this time, I know the dynamics of the slot itself will have changed.
I play Primate King Megaways for real money and share my experience in this review. I also detail how the game is played, what bonuses are featured, how the programming performs, and what can potentially be won.
With this review, you will have access to the slot for free, and you can locate the best real money sites from the casino reviews on Casinos.com.

The first thing that stands out about the design of Primate King Megaways is that it is different and less detailed than the first game. In the first game, you were given more of a terrain and you had the ape cave and distant waterfalls. For the Megaways slot, you have no detailed background. You have the same skulls on a spike, and some stairs lead to the slot. The new design is certainly a lot worse.
As this is a Megaways feature, the layout will be totally different. Primate King Megaways comes with 117,649 ways to win. Each of the six reels can hold up to seven different symbols, which account for the many ways a player can land a win.
To the right of the reels is the progression bar. For all the gold coins you land, it will fill this bar and will then activate the game’s free spins bonus round. On the progression bar, there are three markers. You will unleash a feature to assist your gameplay when you reach each of the three stages.
Now, I learned with the other games in the Nitropolis series to just sit back and absorb what happens. So much action goes into these games that it’s impossible to play and record what goes on.
Given this is a Red Tiger Gaming slot, you will have no problem finding this game in many of the best casinos online. Locate the game, drop your deposit, and load it up. Set your bet to a value you can afford with your budget. Players can spin the reels at $0.20 as a minimum bet, and the prices then slowly rise to a max bet cost of $2 per spin.
A normal slot and a Megaways slot aren’t that different. You have more ways wins can be formed, and from that, the number of rows and reels increases. A single reel can hold up to seven symbols, but it can also hold a minimum of two. To win, you need three symbols to match across adjacent reels. The higher-valued symbols are the treasure chest (two or more to win), the skull and headdress, a compass, a map, and a dagger. The symbols that produce the lower wins are A, K, Q, J, 10, and 9.
When wins are made in this game, the symbols within the win will explode from view, and new symbols will drop into the game. This can cause a chain reaction of consecutive wins. Which helps prolong the game times and adds good value for money.
Bonus Free Spins: To reach the round of free spins, you need to fill the progress bar. During this round of play, the Primate King will remove all of the lowest-valued symbols to better your chances of a big win.
Primate Evolution: The three markers on the progress bar each help to evolve the Primate Wild symbol. The level-up of this Primate Wild is as follows:
When you land on the marker, the feature will stick for one additional spin. If you have played the first Primate King slot, the free spin bonus is no different, but the Wild upgrades are a little different.
I have played the first Primate King game, and I am a big fan of this series by Red Tiger. I easily found this game in my favorite casino. I loaded it up and played 50 auto spins, each costing $2. I know how patient you have to be for this game; it takes a lot of gold coins to fill the progress bar.
On spin 25, I land a $32 big win. This rectified my balance as up till then; wins had been less than my bet. On the second to last spin, I activated the first Primate Wild level-up, though nothing came of it after. With my 50 spins over, I have nothing to cash out. Either way, I would still recommend the game, though I prefer the first one.
For this game, Red Tiger set the volatility high, and the RTP calculation was lower at 95.70%, which isn’t too bad. The maximum possible payout is capped at 30,000x the bet.
I prefer the original game. The Megaways feature is not entirely needed, but Red Tiger has made these upgrades for a long time now. If you’re willing to try some other games by Red Tiger, check these out:
