It’s been years since I’ve bashed a good pinata. It was a pretty fun experience when I was a child, and I bet I’d have a good time doing it now. And, while I don’t want to ruin any kid’s party, I get to bash plenty of juiced-up pinatas in the Pinata Explosivo slot.
Developed by Snowborn Games for Games Global, it’s one of the rare forays into Mexican fiesta territories for the big-name studio. And it’s as fun as bashing a real-life pinata. The Mexican setting is quite obvious with all that tequila, guitars, and calaveras on the reels. You get not one but three different pinatas and bashing their shells out different candies.
The medium-volatile slot has 20 paylines across which to win. Features include three pinata specials along with four fixed jackpots that can make this fiesta even more explosive. Read my Pinata Explosivo review and join the fiesta by trying the demo at the best online casinos.

Pinata Explosivo has a standard 5x3 layout with various Mexican items gracing the reels. There’s a mariachi guitarra, a pair of maracas, and Calavera mariachis with a colorful appearance. The upbeat soundtrack announces the fiesta in the best possible way, picking up as the action heats up.
Landing the dynamites can set off a chain explosion and trigger the bonus fiesta. This feature starts with one of the three special cash upgrades represented by the pinatas dangling over the reels. The pinatas represent a parrot, goat, and horse, and bashing them results in different features and rewards.
As for the layout, the Pinata Explosivo online slot has everything located beneath the grid. The buttons are easy to access, so you can set your bet and start playing on desktop and mobile devices quite easily.
It’s a fiesta you’d love to be part of, even if it doesn’t break the Hold & Win mold.
Playing the Pinata Explosivo slot begins by choosing one of the available bets. By default, it’s set to $2, which was a bit high for me to try the slot out. You can adjust your bets between 20c and $40 per spin, then hit the spin button on the right to start.
In the beginning, things feel pretty similar to any other slot. You need three or more matching symbols on one of the 20 reels for a win. A wild can step in, and link wins together, substituting for other symbols in winning combos.
The action in the Pinata Explosivo slot revolves around the bonus fiesta features. See those pinatas above the reels? Landing dynamites in different colors can randomly trigger the respective bonus fiesta feature. The single dynamites collect the respective pinatas, while a triple dynamite contributes to all three pinatas.
One or more dynamite symbols can trigger any of the bonus fiesta features. Each of the features has a different cash upgrade. This feature is a play on the familiar Hold & Win bonus, starting with three respins.
Three random cash or jackpot symbols are added to the reels when the feature starts. A feature coin for each cash upgrade symbol is also added to the grid. It corresponds to the dynamite that triggered the feature. Any symbol or cash coin that lands on the reels during the feature resets the respins tally back to three.
Colored coins now replace the pinatas, and every time they land, they upgrade the cash prizes for each pinata. The cash upgrades include:
All prizes are awarded at the end of the feature. The feature ends when you run out of respins or fill all the positions with coins. Landing the jackpot symbols can award one of the four fixed jackpot prizes. A hot cell can appear on the grid on any bonus spin. There’s a much higher chance of landing colored or jackpot coins in these zones.
Triple dynamites can reactivate features during the bonus. There’s no bonus buy slots option, so you’ll have to wait for a trigger.
Pinata Explosivo was a very fun slot and quite on point with the Mexican fiesta theme if you ask me. I started my party with a bet of $1 and the medium variance kicked in right away. I hit a 4x win on my third spin, and the slot chuckled out smaller wins constantly during my first 30 spins.
It took around 45 to trigger the bonus round, which I started with the multiplier pinata feature active. I couldn’t get the triple dynamite to trigger all three features, but the multipliers were more than enough to provide some solid x2 and x3-boosted wins. I won a total of 15 respins, with a haul of 68x, which was solid.
Pinata Explosivo is a medium-volatile slot with an RTP of 96.05%. The maximum win is projected at 6,000x the bet.
If you like Mexican-themed slots and fiestas on the reels, Pinata Explosivo is the perfect pick. The slot’s as lively in terms of gameplay as much as it’s colorful. It puts a twist on the familiar Hold & Win bonus by adding three pinatas in the mix, all of which can deliver some pretty decent returns. Overall, it’s a fiesta you’d love to be part of, even if it doesn’t break the Hold & Win mold.
Players looking for an alternative that’s more focused on other aspects of Mexican culture, such as the Day of the Dead, can try the Esqueleto Explosivo series.
