Between the 1950s and the 1990s, both the Soviet Union and NASA sent monkeys into space for scientific research to help prepare humans for space exploration. One monkey, however, never returned…
That, ladies and gentlemen, is the intriguing introduction to this slot review, and sets us all up for a fantastical exploration into the world of Munchy Milo, the space game by Hacksaw Gaming, featuring Milo the money.
Joining us on this feat of exploration is none other than Luke Skyspinner, the intergalactic Chilli cook-off champion, three years running (don’t judge, our budget is limited). Join us as Luke plays the slot for real money and shares details about the gaming features, mechanics, and payouts. The game's free demo is also accessible to all site members.

I’m Luke Skyspinner, that picture on the right there is me, before I became three-times Intergalactic Chili Champion. I’ve traveled countless solar systems, believe it or not, playing space-themed slots. But never have I encountered such an oddity as a space monkey. Join me as I encounter the Munchy Milo video slot and reveal its mysteries. Now, I can't promise we'll make it out alive, but if it gets dangerous, I'll outsmart that monkey so fast it won't even know which planet its bananas came from.
The Munchy Milo slot has an RTP of 96.30% and a medium volatility, which is my preference. This volatility setting brings a more balanced experience to the game. Wins are somewhat more frequent, and payouts can waver to around the value you’re betting. The RTP (Return to Player) score is fairly standard for modern online slots.
The game is displayed on a 7x7 grid with a Cluster Pays mechanism. Land five or more matching clusters of symbols, and you produce a win. The bigger the cluster, the greater the reward. You can win from one or more simultaneous clusters per spin. The highest paying win is 10,000x your bet. If you stake the highest amount, that’s a jackpot of $1,000,000. The bet values range from $0.10 to $100.
Hacksaw Gaming slots can be fairly predictable when it comes to features and bonuses. It’s no bad thing, as it sets a high standard, but it rarely deviates from it or adds to it. Munchy Milo does come with a Buy Bonus option, along with Jolt Frames, Multiplier Wilds, and the ever-present triple Bonus rounds.
If you love Hacksaw Gaming slots, you’ll be happy to find that, with this game, not much has changed in the gameplay dynamics. If you’re more of a slot snob like myself, you may feel somewhat let down that Hacksaw Gaming is churning out the same slots time after time, but just with a different design. I’m also not a fan of any Cluster Pay mechanism; they make games boring, and you feel like you make no actual gains despite landing ten identical symbols to only get a payout that’s the same as your bet.
Milo can keep this slot and planet. I won’t miss them anytime soon.
My spaceship has tracked the Munchy Milo slot signal to some planet that can only be described as a bubbly mess-thing with marshmallow-stuff, possibly surrounded by monkey fecal matter. I have to admit, descriptive wording has never been my forte.
The slot stands seven rows high and seven reels long. Milo stands next to this, persistently grinning at the vast quantities of fecal matter he has likely produced. I encountered the game with the wager set to $3 per spin. The first four spins each produced a winning result, but the values were all less than the sum of my bet. Still, the hit rate so far is impressive.
A further two wins land as I reach the end of my first ten spins. In this, one gaming feature has appeared: the Jolt Frames, which land on the seventh reels and transform all symbols into a single symbol. I decide to face the next 10-spin run with a higher wager of $5 per spin. After these spins, I only landed five wins, all but one were under my bet value.
The feeling of not actually getting anywhere despite the high hit rate makes the game somewhat uneventful, and I find myself quickly boring of the experience. I decided to play a final run of ten spins, now set at $6 per spin.
By now, you can already guess how the ten spins turned out. I’m a little disappointed but then not too shocked. Hacksaw Gaming produced this game and blasted off into space to warn others that just like the game, humanity on Earth will annoy you.
