There are few genres that are used by developers quite as much as the Luck of the Irish. The Emerald Isle has had a lot of slots developed about it, some good, a lot bad, and many of them somewhere in the middle. Finding something new to do with the genre can be extremely tricky, but Red Tiger has given it a good go with the Good Luck Clusterbuster slot game. The title uses the Cluster Buster mechanic that has previously been used in games like Dragons Clusterbuster and adds a few new bonus features. Let’s try and bust this one open in this Good Luck Clusterbuster slot review.

The Good Luck Clusterbuster slot drops players straight into the middle of a bright green Irish field. There are four-leaved clovers lying around everywhere hoping to bring you some luck, and the reels are bordered with gold. The symbols on those reels include all sorts of imagery from Irish culture including, of course, a ginger-bearded leprechaun, a pint of beer, a pipe, and a horseshoe. The lower-paying symbols are all brightly colored mushrooms. The soundtrack, oddly enough, is not a little Irish jig. Instead, it is quite an intense sound that would probably be better suited to a fantasy-style adventure slot.
The Good Luck Clusterbuster slot is much bigger than your standard free slot games. The game uses an enhanced 9x9 grid. As its name might have given away, the slot uses a Cluster Pays mechanic, meaning there are no traditional paylines. Winning combinations pay out for clusters of five or more anywhere on the grid.
Not all of the game’s 9x9 grid is active on every spin, though, with a giant golden pot taking up a 3x3 space in the middle. This is blocked off in the base game, and cracking it open is the key to accessing the Good Luck Clusterbuster bonus features.
The stake is adjusted by clicking on the display in the bottom left-hand corner. The minimum a player can bet is $0.10, and the maximum is $4, which is a very low betting range for an online slot.
Don’t worry about the enhanced grid size having problems fitting on your mobile device. Red Tiger has optimized the game perfectly, ensuring that it looks great whether it is being played on a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. The slot can be played at a range of new slot sites on plenty of different supporting devices.
The big attraction in the Good Luck Clusterbuster slot is the titular Clusterbuster feature. A 3x3 part of the game grid is locked off in the middle of the reels. Unlocking this holds the key to the Bonus Spins Round.
To unlock the grid, you need to ‘bust’ it. This is done by landing winning combinations around its edges. Once you clear the outer rim of the grid, you will trigger the Bonus Spins Round. Helping along the way are four Leprechaun Wilds that are held in position. These work alongside a Tumble mechanic that sees new symbols fall onto the grid whenever a winning cluster is formed. This continues until there are no winning clusters. The 3x3 grid resets at the end of a tumble sequence.
During the Bonus Spins, five spins are rewarded, and the central grid is removed from play. However, the Leprechaun Wilds remain in place and move one position up, down, left, or right after each spin. There is also a Lucky Wind Blow that can move the Wilds closer together and create more winning potential.
Good Luck Clusterbuster offers up some good winning potential. The game has a maximum win of 19,995x the player’s stake. In our experience, the game loves to pile up small wins as it teases you with unlocking the central grid. The volatility of the slot is considered high, with the RTP sitting at 95.73%, putting it just below the industry average.
Good Luck Clusterbuster makes brilliant use of the Clusterbuster mechanic. It has a fun theme and provides plenty of engaging gameplay. Having to unlock the central grid keeps every spin of the game exciting, and there are plenty of moments where the bonus gets close but then slips away. On the whole, Good Luck Clusterbuster is a lot of fun to play and is a slot we are happy to recommend taking for a spin at our recommended casino sites.
