Everyone has watched a documentary at some point in their lives. Some have even seen “mockumentaries,” such as the recent sequel, Spinal Tap II: The End Continues. But what is a docu-concert? We are about to find out as Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Phil Collins’ new docu-concert will make its debut at Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls, Ontario, before heading to other casino venues across North America in 2026.
The show, titled The Phil Collins Story, is a show that’s part concert, part documentary. A docu-concert is a live performance mixed with storytelling, archived footage, and narration that helps to tell the story of an artist’s career journey.
The show opens February 12–15, 2026, at Fallsview Casino. Following dates at other casinos include Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan, and MGM Northfield Park in Northfield, Ohio. The tour, spanning 50 cities, will also include other entertainment venues across Canada and the U.S.
The show is directed by Dean Elliott, known for Buddy – The Buddy Holly Story and similar productions for Johnny Cash, Aretha Franklin, and Simon & Garfunkel. While having Collins perform outright would be the thrill of a lifetime, it is unfortunately not possible due to his health problems. Collins, 74, had his final live performance with Genesis in March 2022 during the bands' The Last Domino? Tour. But Collins was seated most of the performances, due to debilitating back issues dating back to 2007.
Instead, the show will feature a full live band and vocalists performing many of Phil Collins’s greatest hits from both his work with Genesis, his solo career, and his songs on Disney film soundtracks like Tarzan.
Tickets for most dates on the 50-city tour will go on sale on October 24, with presales beginning on October 23 for the Fallsview Casino shows. The four Fallsview performances will be held at the 1,550-seat Avalon Theatre, one of Canada’s most intimate venues.
Three casinos will host presentations of the docu-concert. Those three dates are:
“It is truly an honor to collaborate on a project celebrating the music of Phil Collins,” Elliott said during the announcement of the fifty-city tour. “His work continues to inspire global audiences, and we’re excited to bring that energy to the stage.”
Fallsview Casino is the only venue that will host four exclusive shows. Located close to Niagara Falls, It’s arguably one of Canada’s premier gaming and resort destinations. The casino houses a whopping 3,500 slot machines, 372-room hotel, and the cozy Avalon Theatre concert venue. At the theatre, guests are never more than 100 feet away from the performer for the night.
Screening The Phil Collins Story is a major win for these casinos, each working to balance the gaming offerings with non gaming amenities like live entertainment. Collins is not only a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer with more than 150 million albums sold across his solo work and with Genesis, but he also has eight Grammys, two Golden Globes, and an Academy Award. His work as an artist brings real star power to the lineup for these casinos on the list.
Unlike traditional documentaries, a docu-concert tells the story of the subject’s life through the music they created throughout their career. In Collins’ case, it traces back to his journey from Genesis drummer to group leader, and his extraordinarily successful solo career down the line.
The tour also includes Four Winds Casino in New Buffalo, Michigan, a luxury resort that ranked among our luckiest casinos this year and hosted 1970s rock ballad group Foreigner last year. Meanwhile, MGM Northfield Park in Ohio added the Marshall Tucker Band to its entertainment lineup last year as well.
“Phil Collins’ catalog is in that rare company,” Elliott said. “His music has an immediacy and emotional honesty that continues to resonate across cultures and age groups.”
