Shreveport's casino market sits on the Red River in northwestern Louisiana, in a city that shares a metropolitan area with Bossier City across the water. Together, the two cities form one of the denser concentrations of casino properties in the American South, with multiple large operators competing on the same riverfront corridor. Hollywood Casino opened at 451 Clyde Fant Parkway in 1994 and was subsequently acquired by Eldorado Resorts, which operated the property as Eldorado Resort Casino Shreveport for years before being acquired itself by Caesars Entertainment in 2020. Caesars then sold the Shreveport property to Bally's Corporation as part of the regulatory divestiture required to complete the Eldorado-Caesars merger. Bally's Corporation rebranded it as Bally's Shreveport Casino and Hotel in November 2021.
That ownership history matters because the property carries its accumulated decisions from each era. The three-floor gaming setup, the Red River paddlewheeler, the 401-room hotel tower and the downtown Shreveport location with easy access to the convention center and the Shreveport Aquarium next door, are all genuine assets. The permanently closed buffet, the dated decor that some long-term guests trace back to the original Hollywood Casino era, and the operational inconsistencies that have attracted criticism in recent years are the counterweight.
When honestly assessed, Bally's Shreveport is a downtown riverfront casino hotel in a competitive market that is in a period of transition following multiple ownership changes. The bones are solid. The Red River location is attractive. The gaming floor across three levels is capable. Whether the Bally's Corporation ownership delivers a meaningful reinvestment in the property's infrastructure is the question the next few years will answer.
Bally's Shreveport Casino and Hotel sits at 451 Clyde Fant Parkway on the Red River in downtown Shreveport, six minutes on foot from the Sci-Port Discovery Center and immediately adjacent to the Shreveport Aquarium. Shreveport Regional Airport is approximately 17 minutes by car. The downtown location gives it walkable access to the convention center, the Louisiana Boardwalk Shopping Center 1.3 miles away, and the broader Red River entertainment district.
Valet parking is available at the main entrance. Free weekday overnight RV parking is available for guests with recreational vehicles. The Red River waterfront setting gives the property direct access to the paddlewheeler, which is one of the more distinctive structural features of any casino hotel in the Shreveport-Bossier market.
The gaming floor covers 28,226 square feet across three levels and operates around the clock. Louisiana's commercial casino gambling regulations allow the full range, including live craps, roulette, and a poker room. The multi-level layout gives the floor a different character from single-level casino designs, with each floor carrying a slightly different energy and machine mix.
Smoking is permitted in designated gaming areas. The outdoor smoking areas on the Red River side of the property draw specific positive mention from guests who smoke, with the river views from those spaces being an unexpected amenity.
50 live table games across the three gaming floors covering:
A dedicated poker room runs cash games and tournaments.
Over 1,100 slot machines and video poker units run across the three gaming floors in a range of denominations. The machine count is moderate for a property of this size, which reflects the competitive context of a market where Horseshoe Bossier City, Caesars Louisiana, and Sam's Town all operate nearby. Keno machines are available alongside the standard slot selection.
Bally's Rewards is the loyalty programme, operating across Bally's Corporation's national portfolio of properties. Points earned at Shreveport are valid at Bally's properties in other states, giving the programme cross-property value for guests who visit multiple Bally's locations. Sign-up is available at the rewards desk with a valid photo ID.

The hotel tower contains 401 rooms and suites across multiple room types, from Premium King and Premium Queen rooms with marble bathrooms and minifridges through Silver Suite King configurations with dedicated living areas and Monarch Suites with separate living and dining rooms. All rooms include flat-screen televisions, coffeemakers, WiFi, and mini refrigerators. The upper-floor river view rooms overlooking the Red River are consistently identified by guests as the strongest accommodation option on the property.
Room service is available around the clock. The hotel is pet-friendly. A fitness centre and La Spa are available to guests.
Four dining venues in current operation cover the range from a steakhouse to a casual Southern cafe:
| Restaurant | Type | Price |
|---|---|---|
| The Vintage Steakhouse | Fine dining steakhouse, premium cuts, dinner service | $$$$ |
| Noodle Bar | Pan-Asian, Vietnamese-influenced, casual | $$ |
| Sportsman's Paradise Cafe | Casual Southern fare, breakfast through late night, 24-hour operation | $ |
| Celebrity Lounge | Bar, live entertainment, drinks and light bites | $$ |
The Vintage Steakhouse handles the fine dining anchor role and receives solid guest feedback for its steakhouse programme. The Sportsman's Paradise Cafe is the property's 24-hour casual option and consistently draws the most positive guest commentary of any dining venue on site, its Southern comfort food menu and the warmth of its staff being the specific elements guests single out. The permanently closed buffet, which had been a draw for many regular visitors, has not been replaced with an equivalent volume dining option, a gap that is worth noting for guests who value that format.
La Spa on the property offers massage, facials, and a hair salon alongside a full-service beauty treatment menu. The fitness centre is available to guests. An outdoor pool area provides a seasonal leisure option. The Red River views from outdoor areas of the property are one of its most consistently praised features.
The Celebrity Lounge is the primary live entertainment venue, hosting regular live music acts and maintaining a dress code for evening performances. The Allure Ultra Lounge provides the nightlife option for guests who want a later evening environment. Both venues require guests to be 21 or over for entry.
The 1,500-passenger paddlewheeler on the Red River provides a distinctive entertainment and excursion option tied directly to the property's Red River location.
Bally's Shreveport Casino and Hotel is at a crossroads. It has a genuinely good location, a three-floor gaming setup with the full Louisiana commercial gaming range, an attractive Red River setting with the paddlewheeler as a distinctive feature, and a 401-room hotel with competitive river view rooms. The Sportsman's Paradise Cafe is the kind of around-the-clock Southern dining operation that gives a casino its character.
What it lacks at present is a clear signal from the Bally's Corporation ownership that the property is heading toward meaningful reinvestment rather than continued operation on ageing infrastructure. The closed buffet that has not been replaced, the decor that some guests trace to the Hollywood Casino era, and the operational inconsistencies that have attracted criticism are all correctable, given sufficient investment. The question is whether that investment arrives.
For visitors to Shreveport specifically, Bally's occupies a premium downtown location and provides genuine full-service casino hotel facilities. In the wider Shreveport-Bossier market, however, guests with options will find Horseshoe Bossier City operating at a higher current standard.
