British Columbia is Canada's third-largest province by population and one of the country's most active casino markets. Most venues are concentrated in the Greater Vancouver area, with additional properties across Vancouver Island and the Interior. Casinos operate under licence from the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC), overseen by the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB) — a role transitioning to the new Independent Gambling Control Office (IGCO) in April 2026.

Responsible Gambling

Gambling should be treated as entertainment, not a way to make money. If you feel your gambling is becoming difficult to control, free and confidential support is available.

In British Columbia, contact the GamblingSupport BC helpline at 1-888-795-6111, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. GameSense information centres are located inside every licensed casino in the province and provide on-site support and information about responsible gambling.

Set a budget before you play, only gamble with money you can afford to lose, and avoid chasing losses. All licensed BC casinos offer self-exclusion through the BCLC's Game Break programme, which allows players to voluntarily restrict access to gaming facilities across the province.
