Some say that Latin or Mandarin is the hardest yet most satisfying language to learn. Real slots players know that it is Planet Moolah. The series keeps on pumping out new titles, too, and Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah is certainly an interesting one.
In fact, you could easily argue that Triple Blast is the most interesting Planet Moolah slot title to date due to the fact that, for the first real time, it deviates slightly from its established mechanics.
That deviation comes in the form of a ‘pot’ mechanic, and they are not universally popular. I understand that, and I share the disdain for the dreaded ‘perceived progression’ trend. That said, for all we moan about it, we still play the games, so who is really to blame here?
And, true to form, the moment I saw a Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah slot machine for the first time, which was in New York-New York in Las Vegas, I was excited to play it. That’s not all that unusual, to be honest, as I get excited to play all slot machines in truth.
What is unusual though, especially for a pot game, is that I am still excited to play it even more after I have played it plenty. So, with that in mind, let’s explore just what I love so much about Triple Bast from the Planet Moolah.

Every time I review a Planet Moolah game, I have to confront the hurdle of explaining just what on earth is going on. Each time I feel I don’t remotely do it justice, both in terms of conveying its sheer craziness and, shall we say, abstract backstory. So, let’s have another go here.
Imagine a world where aliens exist, and they have a serious interest in Earth. Yes, actual aliens. The ones that come in flying saucers and abduct inhabitants of our planet. However, the human race is not the species they are interested in; it’s cows. Run-of-the-mill, grass-chewing, beef-producing, confusing moos as they're being beamed up by a spaceship.
And why are aliens so interested in the cows? Because they are cows themselves. Granted, sometimes they have three eyes and very occasionally unicorn horns, but they are cows. All caught up?
Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah is unapologetically Planet Moolah in its theme. The graphics and animations are familiar, the sounds, the music, the base game mechanics, everything. It’s as loud as ever, too. If you have ever been on a casino floor, even remotely close to an in-play Moolah game, you know exactly what I am talking about there.
Ultimately, though, it’s just a really nicely designed game with a theme and a formula that, remarkably, works.
As I said before, the base game mechanic in the Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah slot machine is very familiar. You spin, and when you win, the winning symbols are blasted into oblivion by hovering cows in flying saucers. That triggers a cascade wins mechanic similar to Megaways games.
If you get at least four cascade wins in a row, you earn free games. They start at seven but increase incrementally with each subsequent cascade win. In Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah, nothing has changed there.
What has changed is that you can also land green, yellow, and purple flying saucer symbols. These are in front of other symbols, so they don’t affect the cascade wins, and collecting them is what feeds the ‘pots’. In this context, by ‘pots’ I mean flying saucers hovering above the game, each corresponding to a color.
That leads me to the biggest change: you get some warning about when you will receive the bonus. Previously on Planet Moolah games, the biggest frustration was getting to three cascade wins and then it finds a way to deny you the fourth with a brutal commitment to driving you mad.
On Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah, though, the ‘pot’ will go before the cascade wins reach four, meaning you know it’s coming. I must admit, I do like that feature as it reduces the frustration, which was always the big drawback with Moolah games.
The other thing to look out for is the jackpot symbol. If you get it within a line with the invaders symbol, you win one of the progressive jackpots. Again, that’s a nice addition to the base game as it means there is more to look out for than just cascade wins.
At a glance:
The Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah bonus feature will depend upon which pot (flying saucer) or pots (flying saucers) you trigger during the cascade wins. I do want to keep the crazy to a minimum, but this is a Planet Moolah review, so I know when I am defeated.
Basically, each of the flying saucers has a different pilot. The purple is flown by DJ Chick A Spins, the yellow by Madame Moolah, and the green by Major Milk. I would just LOVE to sit in on the creative meetings at Light & Wonder when a new Planet Moolah game is being designed.
Let’s go through them all one by one and reveal what they do.
DJ Chick A Spins: He’s a party cow. He’s also green. Oh, and he’s not really a DJ, because he gives YOU the choices of what tracks will play during the bonus. Honestly. A little panel opens up on this bonus alone that lets you click through different songs. You have to love that feature, right?
That’s not all he does, though. He also randomly awards you additional spins by blasting them out of his flying saucer’s custom mega-speakers.
Madame Moolah: All I can assume here is that someone on the design team at Light & Wonder has a really annoying Instagramming ex-girlfriend that they wanted to get back at. Madame Moolah sits in her flying saucer, admiring herself in the mirror and taking selfies.
Very occasionally, and I do mean very, she will throw down some wilds that are genuinely very helpful, as they are the wilds with credit amounts attached. Generally, though, she is deeply annoying.
Major Milk: Ah, the military man. Major Milk is the kind of no-nonsense space marine all good space cow invasion forces can rally behind. He is all business. And he loves milk.
When you trigger Major Milk, the middle row in reels two, three, four, and five becomes the Milky Way galaxy. Major Milk then zaps up any milk symbols that land in that little strip and replaces them with wilds.
As in most pot games, you can trigger multiple bonuses at once. That means DJ Chick A Spins could extend your game, affording Madame Moolah even more opportunities to ignore your attempts to win to admire herself instead. They can go in any combination, including all three together.
The cascade win mechanic also still applies in the bonus, so you can retrigger it and earn additional free games by getting at least four again.
Oh, and the usual Moolah special wild symbols are there too, such as blasts, credit awards, etc. So, as you can imagine, it’s very full on, which is exactly what you expect from a Moolah game.
The good news about Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah is that it has medium volatility. In fact, I have found it to be the least volatile Planet Moolah game of all. That means it’s a good game for recycling points and earning player rewards.
To do that, you will need to insert your player’s card in the machine before you play in your favorite land based casino. That is just a great habit to get into, regardless of the game, to be honest. Sit down, put in your card, make sure it’s registered, and turn those spins into comps.
You should also make sure you’re taking full advantage of the waitstaff while you play. Some casinos, especially those in Las Vegas, will include alcoholic drinks in that, but not all do. All will have some options, though, even if it’s just a soft drink. Just make sure you tip to keep the waitress interested in coming back.
I am a self-confessed Planet Moolah fan, so keep that in mind as you read on. I am fully aware that the series is not for everyone. I have to say, though, that I really like Triple Blast from the Planet Moolah. I like it even more than most of the others. In fact, I’d say only Journey to the Planet Moolah rivals it for me, and even then, I couldn’t pick a favourite from the two.
It’s exceptionally good fun and has refreshed its bonus without sacrificing any of the personality and charm that define the series.
Ok, granted, Madame Moolah is really annoying, and Major Milk, frankly, needs to get out a bit more as his obsession with a dairy product (for a cow) is a little bit weird. However, light-hearted frustration is part of the fun with a Planet Moolah game, so I can certainly live with it here.
