In the glittering world of land based casinos, few slot machines capture the Asian-inspired imagination like Prosperity Link. Released by IGT in 2022, Prosperity Link blends classic hold-and-spin mechanics with a lavish Chinese fortune motif.
It was launched amid the post-pandemic casino boom and quickly hit the floors in Las Vegas, Macau, and beyond, promising players a shot at life-changing jackpots through an attempt to reimagine a classic.
That classic, if we are being brutally honest, is Aristocrat’s Dragon Link. That is not accusing IGT of copying anything. It’s really more of a tribute. However, an Asian-themed hold and spin game with balls is always going to draw comparisons to Dragon Link, isn’t it?
Prosperity Link does try to do it differently, but at its core it is a 5-reel, 50-payline video slot with four fixed jackpots: Mini, Minor, Major, and Grand. Where they do try to be different is that while their hold and spin, sorry, lock and win, feature is still triggered by six balls, the feature itself can unlock another three screens, so four in total.
Let’s have a closer look, though.

I want to be able to tell you something about Prosperity Link here that makes it stand out from the crowd. Sadly, I can’t really do that.
That may simply be because I am not the market it is aimed towards. IGT clearly made it for an Asian market and the iconography will speak to players of that culture in a way that it won’t anyone else. That’s not a criticism, it’s just a reality.
There are slightly different versions of the games, for example. All have a different color scheme and a different Asian figure at its forefront. They also all have a different Chinese motto behind them.
For example: Prosperity Link - Cai Yun Heng Tong. That is one of the versions. To me, it means nothing. To someone of Asian culture, it means the smooth flow of wealth and good fortune. Similarly, Prosperity Link - Xi Chu Wang Wai? Anyone? Well it means surprisingly joyful or great fortune, apparently.
The only reason I know that is because I am a conscientious reviewer who does my research, but I have walked past all these games in the casino many times, and actually played them all, without ever knowing what the game’s title was telling me.
So my point is that just because I can’t tell you something distinct about the theming, it doesn’t mean it's not there.
| Title | Theme / Subtitle | Key Feature Difference |
|---|---|---|
| Prosperity Link – Wan Shi Ru Yi | “May all your hopes be fulfilled” | Multiplier Wilds in Free Spins — wilds combine for up to 60× multipliers. |
| Prosperity Link – Cai Yun Heng Tong | “Smooth flow of wealth / good fortune” | Scattered Wilds in Free Spins; similar Lock & Spin mechanics as the core. |
| Prosperity Link – Dian Shi Cheng Jin | “Touching stone turns to gold” | Nudging Wilds variant — partial stacks of wilds can shift to fill reels. |
| Prosperity Link – Ri Jin Dou Jin | “Daily profits / earning a lot of money every day” | Another variant with multiplier wilds / extra wilds mechanics. |
| Prosperity Link – Xi Chu Wang Wai | “Surprisingly joyful or great fortune | Also reportedly uses nudging wilds in Free Spins or a different twist on the wilds mechanism. |
Visually, IGT delivers opulence: vibrant reds and golds dominate, with animated figures and glistening bowls of coins and pearls enticing you to carry on playing. The soundtrack is a soothing yet upbeat Chinese orchestral loop that builds tension during and towards features. The symbols are full of Asian-inspired imagery focused on wealth, prosperity and traditional Chinese motifs such as dragons, turtles, toads, and golden fish.
It is, though, lacking in a certain immediate wow factor that most modern slot machines now actively chase.
Because Prosperity Link borrows heavily from Dragon Link (again, not a criticism), it inherits a lot of nice, soothing, settling familiarity. It becomes a real ‘pick-up-and-play’ type of game that you won’t stress about being able to follow.
Like Dragon Link, you are looking for three free game symbols or six balls, in this case pearls. One main difference here is that when you land pearls that are in insufficient numbers to trigger a hold and spin, sorry, lock and win, they jump into a pot above the reels.
One word of caution here is not to fall into the trap of believing that actually means anything. The pot is not any kind of representation of how close the bonus is to triggering. It is a simple perceived progression.
Occasionally, pearls from that Prosperity Pot will empty and fall onto the reels to trigger the hold and spin, but it is random. Similarly, coins will sometimes be thrown down as wilds to help with the line pays.
And that is pretty much it. As I said, it’s simple and familiar. That is part of its charm, a reason for its success, and also perhaps an explanation for its struggle to truly stand out from the rest.
At a glance:
I’ve spoken enough about how similar Prosperity Link is to Dragon Link. To recap, it’s a simple case of six balls triggering the hold and spin, which is the main feature of the game.
Let’s look at how it is different, though, because it does have that one key difference. While in Dragon Link you get one screen to fill with values in the Hold and Spin, in Prosperity Link you get up to four. That is four times the amount of space to land those credit-carrying balls in. So, that’s the good news.
The even better news is that four screens means it's possible to land four Grand Jackpots! Fill up all 15 spaces in one screen and you’ll win the Grand, fill all four and you’ll win four Grand Jackpots! That’s pretty cool. Remember though, you can also land any of the progressives with the Mini, Minor and Major available during the Lock and Win.
The bad news is that in order to unlock more than one screen, you have to earn it. You start off with just one screen as usual, but you can unlock other games by collecting pearls. In principle, that sounds really good, I know, but slot machines are rarely that simple.
For starters, it means the average value of the pearls you land are lower. Crucially, though, it often feels very difficult to actually get enough pearls to unlock additional games. It can be maddening. Unlocking a second screen is quite common, but I have found it tough to get any further than that.
Anyway, here is a video of the game in action, including the bonus.
The Prosperity Link free games are not necessarily the feature you want, but it’s very much worth having. Each different version of the game has a slightly different free games feature, but they are all very much based around the Wild symbol.
Some nudge, some multiply, some wander. It depends on the version you are playing, but they are all much of a muchness in terms of potential payout.
Crucially, you can trigger the Hold and Spin in all of them too, which is always an exciting little subplot.
When you sit down to play Prosperity Link, always slide your player rewards card into the slot first. Medium volatility means this slot machine can be a hidden gem for racking up points: frequent line hits keep your credits spinning longer, turning every session into a potential comp-building marathon.
And never forget the golden rule of Las Vegas survival: stay on your cocktail server’s good side. In most Las Vegas casinos, free drinks flow the moment you’re rated as active. Wave politely, order whatever you fancy and tip $3–$5 per drink. In fact, a crisp five early on works wonders; your server will circle back like clockwork.
Pro tip for Atlantic City regulars: many machines now feature built-in drink-order touchscreens tied to your play level. Hammer a few max bets, watch the “Order Drinks” button light up, and your rum-and-Coke arrives without leaving your seat. Play smart, tip well, and let the credits, comps, and cocktails keep coming.
It’s pleasant. I don’t really know how else to describe the Prosperity Link slot machine. It’s not the most exciting, but it’s not really frustrating either. It’s not the kind of slot machine you sit at home dreaming about playing, but it’s one you play on every trip.
Is it revolutionary? No, not in the slightest. Prosperity Link borrows heavily from Lightning Link and Dragon Link, often feeling like a polished reskin rather than a bold leap. Near-misses tease mercilessly but frustration doesn’t really build. Nor, though, does excitement at a potential bonus either. Still, for fans of Hold-and-Spin frenzy, it's fun.
Prosperity Link isn't breaking new ground, but it wraps familiar fun in potential fortune.
