Sat here now, I confidently predict that the Money Mover Slot Machine by IGT will become the stuff of legend. Not entirely positive legend, but we can’t pick and choose these things. It hasn’t even been on the casino floor for that long and I already find it legendarily irritating and legendarily tempting.
If I am having a night at a UK casino, I play it. Every time. The US version I found in Las Vegas is slightly different, and I will get to that later, but UK casinos definitely seem to carry it more. Every time I do play it, though, I play it with the expectation of frustration to the point where it is actually quite comedic to me now.
I’ll explain all that but suffice to say that the Money Mover slot machine has huge potential and a brilliant bonus. I do genuinely like it, even if it sounds like I don’t. It’s got all the elements you want really: a good bonus feature, free games you actually want, nice graphics, nice sound, a bit of character, and potential for big wins.
Let’s take a bit of a deeper dive and explain why my frustration shouldn’t put you off it at all.

The first thing to say about the Money Mover slot machine is that it is very IGT. Regular slots players will know exactly what I mean by that. The skin is familiar, the sounds are relatively generic, and the whole thing is just very recognisable.
Now, I quite like that. IGT do cut and paste a little with their designs, but they are cutting and pasting something good that works. It means it feels familiar and easy rather than dull and repetitive.
There are also technically two versions of Money Mover, but the differences are just cosmetic. One has a green colour scheme and is fronted by a tiger; the other is purple with a panther. The symbols are slightly different on both, but they all do the same thing. So really, it’s not something to stress over. It’s really just a case of picking your favourite colour to be honest.
And there isn’t really any more to say about it in terms of design. It’s a standard grid of five reels and three rows, there are credit balls for Hold and Spins, Free Games symbols for the scatter, and big Gold Coins that act as collects. Occasionally the big cats will roar. It doesn’t actually do anything, but it seems important to them – a bit like when my weirdo dog barks at a drain.
Something I like about the Money Mover slot machine is that it’s not very complicated. If you are familiar with games such as Dragon Link or Lightning Link, it’s very easy to pick up and play.
You need six balls (or five balls and a collect) to trigger the Hold and Spin, or three Scatters to trigger the Free Games. If a collect (large gold coin) lands with fewer balls, it won’t trigger the Hold and Spin but it will win you the value on the balls that did land. That’s a nice feature as it can keep you topped up and make you feel like every spin is one of potential.
That’s all the technical information you need to play Money Mover, but the most important thing to bring with you is patience and a sense of humour. Money Mover is a relentless and utterly shameless tease. Prepare yourself to see five balls landing– A LOT – and try to find the comedy in it.
At a glance:
The Money Mover slot machine bonuses are pretty simple. Let’s take a look.
If you get six balls you trigger the Hold and Spin. The values can be low, but that is offset by a Collect feature. It is also possible to land progressive jackpot balls such as Mini, Minor, Major and Mega. Should you land a Gold Coin in the Hold and Spin, it will collect everything currently on screen and you win it instantly. That is pretty awesome.
What is even more awesome is the fact you can land more than one of the Collect coins. Now that is when the money really starts to move around.
The perfect Money Mover storm is high value balls, progressives if possible, and then lots and lots of collect coins. I have had that once or twice, and big wins can happen, which is why you put up with the frustration in between. Don’t forget if you land all 15 balls, you’ll land that big Grand Jackpot too.
The Money Mover Free Games feature is, as far as I can tell at least, a lot harder to get than the Hold and Spin. To trigger it you just need three of the purple ‘Free Games’ symbols.
Do that, and your persistence (trust me on that) will be rewarded with 10 Free Spins, each one of them can trigger the Hold and Spin as well. You can’t expect it, but you can hope for it.
The biggest difference in the Free Games though is that the gold Collect Symbol is a lot more common, so you can get some large wins along the way without getting the Hold and Spin.
When playing Money Mover or any slot machine in a land based casino, don’t forget to insert your player rewards card. It’s a great game for earning points, since frequent line wins can help stretch your bankroll and keep the action going longer.
Also, remember to watch for your cocktail server. Most US casinos, particularly in Las Vegas, offer complimentary drinks while you play. Order whatever you like but be sure to tip your server if you’d like them to return promptly.
In some venues, especially in Atlantic City, you can even order drinks directly from the slot machine’s screen based on your play level, so keep an eye out for that option too.
Money Mover is a solid high-volatility game. Sure, it doesn’t really innovate in any other area except the persistence with which it seeks to frustrate you, but it’s simple, nice to look at, and rewards you with wins in a good bonus feature you want. It sounds like a simple formula, and it is, but you’d be surprised at how many games fail to adhere to it.
I’d like to see a bit more panache from it, sure. The big cats add nothing in truth. In an era when interactive, engaging characters are at the forefront, such as Spooky Link from Aristocrat, the cats feel a bit lazy. Then again, I suppose cats are lazy. Although cats don’t bark obsessively at drains and annoy my neighbors to be fair to them. I digress.
Anyway, Money Mover is a good slot machine. Play it. Just expect it to drive you a little loopy.
