Atlantic City's nine casino hotels won $304.2 million from in-person gambling in July 2026, up 7.1% from $284.1 million a year earlier and the city's best July since 2012, according to the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE). The DGE's own figures show slot machine win rose 6.2% to $226.1 million and table games rose 9.5% to $78.1 million.

Sports wagering drives the state's broader gaming total

Casino win is only part of New Jersey's picture. Total gaming revenue across casinos, racetracks and their partners, which also folds in online casinos and sports wagering, reached $678.1 million for July, up 11.9% on $606.2 million in July 2025. Sports wagering gross revenue climbed 29.7% year over year to $97.0 million, the fastest-growing segment in the DGE's monthly report.

Internet gaming win added $276.9 million for the month, a 12.0% increase on July 2025. Year to date, internet gaming has brought in $1.87 billion, up 14.5% on the same period last year, while total gaming revenue across all channels stands at $4.20 billion through July, a 6.9% rise on 2025.

Casino-by-casino picture is mixed despite the overall rise

The DGE's property-level breakdown shows the July gain was not shared evenly. Caesars posted the largest jump in casino win, up 34.6% to $25.3 million, followed by Ocean Casino Resort, up 21.0% to $52.2 million. Bally's was the only property to post a decline, down 13.7% to $12.2 million, driven by a 56.9% drop in table game win at that property.

Brian Tyrrell, director of Stockton University's Lloyd D. Levenson Institute of Gaming, Hospitality and Tourism, said the month marked the best single-month brick-and-mortar result since August 2025 and the second-highest July return in more than a decade. He also cautioned, in comments reported by the Press of Atlantic City, that high gross revenue does not always translate into stronger operating profits once rising costs are factored in.

"As we have learned from experience, such high returns on gross gaming revenue do not always translate to net gaming revenue gains and gross operating profits," Tyrrell said. "Costs of doing business continue to increase and other pressures on the industry may suppress the overall profitability of Atlantic City's casinos."

Online sportsbooks keep gaining share of the sports wagering market

Within the state's online sports betting numbers, FanDuel led all skins with $61.7 million in July win, up 18.5% year over year, followed by DraftKings at $48.1 million and BetMGM at $34.6 million. The pattern mirrors trends seen elsewhere, such as New Jersey's own online casino tax revenue growth and the milestone Connecticut recently passed in its own casino revenue figures, as regulated online betting continues to outpace brick-and-mortar growth in several US states.

The DGE's report also breaks out taxes generated by the industry: casinos, internet gaming and sports wagering combined produced $104.1 million in gaming taxes for July, and $668.5 million year to date, funding programmes including the Casino Revenue Fund and Atlantic City's PILOT payments in lieu of property taxes.

New Jersey's next monthly report, covering August 2026, is expected from the DGE in mid-September and will show whether Atlantic City can extend its summer momentum into the traditionally quieter autumn months.
