Teen Patti Rules, Strategy & Top Casinos [2026]

Since it’s a live game, Teen Patti plays out in real time. The goal is to beat the dealer by having a stronger three-card hand (instead of a five-card hand in most standard poker variants). One golden rule is that the dealer only qualifies to play if they have a Queen-high or better. Basically, if their hand doesn’t contain at least a Queen, you instantly win.    

When I joined the table, I set my Ante bet and waited for the next round. If you want, you can also place any of the optional bets: Pair Plus and 6 Card Bonus. Then, the dealer shuffled and dealt three cards to me and three to himself. Notably, his cards were face down. 

After the deal, I had to make two decisions: 

• Play 1x: Place a bet equivalent to my Ante bet
• Fold: Withdraw from the round 

Basically, you pick Play 1x if you’re confident your hand will win and Fold if the reverse is the case. Once I made my decision and the other players did too, the dealer revealed his cards. The game automatically compares the hands, and the winners are announced. That’s how easy Teen Patti is to play, which is why I consider it one of the best live casino games around. 

However, before you start playing, you have to learn the hand rankings. They’re not much different from standard poker, as you can see below:

If you and the dealer both have a High Card, the hand with the highest card value wins. 

Pair Plus 

This side bet wins if your three cards form a Pair or Better. In other words, you’ll only lose if your hand is a High Card, according to the table above. 

6 Card Bonus 

The 6 Card Bonus is a more dynamic side bet, which pays homage to the classic poker game. It wins if your three cards and any of the dealer’s three cards combine to create a strong 5-card poker hand. 

When I checked the rules of Teen Patti by Evolution, I noted that the 6 Card Bonus takes these poker hands into account:

Besides the above, hands like Straight Flush and Three of a Kind also count. 

Typical of Evolution, Teen Patti has a bet limit that can work for any player. It ranges from $0.50 to $5,000 for the Ante bet. Meanwhile, the limit is $0.50 to $1,000 for the Pair Plus side bet and $0.50 to $250 for the 6 Card Bonus. 

I didn’t type in values or use a slider to set my bet when playing Teen Patti at live dealer casinos online. In the live table game, you place chips, which come in six values: 0.50, 1, 2, 5, 25, and 100. Hence, if I wanted to place the maximum $5,000 Ante bet, I'd select 50 of the 100-value chips.  

From my perspective, Evolution was deliberate with the chip values to help players better manage their bets. Note that Teen Patti allows about 15 seconds between rounds for betting. If you want to play in a particular round, you’ll have to be relatively fast.

While betting on Teen Patti, it’s ideal to know your wager's return-to-player (RTP) percentage. The RTP indicates how much you can expect to win back from the game in the long run, after thousands of rounds. It’s theoretical, but I always consider it to know just how favorable a bet is.
