Mystic Lake Casino Hotel Review for June 2026

The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community has deep roots in the land that is now Prior Lake, Minnesota. When they opened Little Six Bingo in 1982, it was a modest operation born of economic necessity for a small tribe. When the federal Indian Gaming Regulatory Act passed in 1988 and Minnesota became one of the first states in the country to negotiate and sign tribal gaming compacts, the SMSC moved quickly.

Mystic Lake Casino Hotel opened on May 12, 1992 and grew into the largest casino in Minnesota and one of the largest in the entire Midwest. Today it employs 4,100 people, making it the largest employer in Scott County, and generates revenue that funds everything from tribal housing and healthcare to conservation programs across thousands of acres of ancestral land.

That community story matters here because it is part of what makes Mystic Lake different from a corporate casino resort. The SMSC is deeply invested in what this property does for its people and its land in a way that boardrooms in Las Vegas are not.

Getting There

Mystic Lake sits at 2400 Mystic Lake Boulevard NW in Prior Lake, approximately 25 minutes southwest of downtown Minneapolis and the same distance from Mall of America in Bloomington. From the Twin Cities, US-169 South to the Prior Lake exit is the primary route. Free parking is available in surface lots and ramps on site. Mystic Lake also runs a bus shuttle service from several Minneapolis-area locations, which is a convenient option for visitors who prefer not to drive. The casino operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Casino Review

The 125,000-square-foot gaming floor is the largest in Minnesota and carries the energy you would expect from a property of this scale and reputation. The layout is well organized across a sprawling single-level floor, with slots dominating the main space, table games in their own defined area, baccarat in a dedicated room, and the bingo hall in a separate wing.

One thing to know before arriving: Minnesota's tribal gaming compact does not permit craps or roulette at tribal casinos. The games you will find here are blackjack, baccarat, pulltabs, bingo, and video roulette, a slightly different lineup from many casino markets, and one that surprises visitors from outside the state who arrive expecting a full Las Vegas-style table selection.

Table Games

With 88 live table games and 12 dedicated baccarat tables, Mystic Lake has a solid table games floor that serves its core audience well. The lineup includes:

Bets on table games range from $1 minimums to $1,000 maximum, giving the floor accessibility across a wide range of playing styles. The dedicated baccarat room provides a more private and focused environment for players who prefer that game.

Slots

With over 4,000 slot machines, Mystic Lake has the most slots in Minnesota and one of the larger slot floors in the Midwest. The selection is broad and well-maintained, covering everything from penny machines (the most extensive penny slot selection in the state) through to high denomination games in the dedicated high-limit area. A non-smoking slots section is available for players who prefer a smoke-free environment. I found all the major popular titles represented alongside a rotating selection of new releases that keeps the floor current.

Sportsbook

There is currently no retail sportsbook at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel. Sports betting is legal in Minnesota for certain operators but the tribal casino framework has not yet extended to include a retail sportsbook facility at this property.

Rewards Club

Club M is Mystic Lake's own loyalty program, operating since 1992 and one of the longest-established casino loyalty programs in the region. The four-tier system rewards members with points earned through slot play, table games, bingo, dining, hotel stays, golf, and gift shop purchases. Points convert to Mysticash for free slot play and can also be redeemed for dining credits, spa packages, hotel stays, and golf rounds. New members receive $50 in free slot play and $25 in free blackjack play on joining, plus a $15 dining credit. The program is well regarded for its breadth of redemption options across the full resort.

Hotel Review

The 766-room hotel spans multiple connected towers and is one of the largest hotels in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Room categories include standard rooms, suites, and tower configurations, with the most recent Mystic Lake Center addition in 2018 bringing a new level of design quality inspired by Minnesota's natural landscapes. SageGlass windows filter sunlight intelligently, blue acrylic chandeliers mimic water droplets while updated interiors are built around the state's seasons and scenery.

All rooms include free WiFi, premium bedding, and flat-screen TVs. The spa provides a full range of treatments for hotel guests, and an indoor pool is available year-round. The hotel's scale gives it the kind of meeting and event capacity that makes Mystic Lake Center one of the Twin Cities' most sought-after group venues.

Where to Eat

Mystic Lake has nine restaurants and food venues covering a broad range of options.

The Meadows Restaurant is the standout dining experience, offering a full-service American menu in a refined setting with views of the adjacent golf course. The broader dining lineup covers casual options, food court-style dining, and multiple bars throughout the property to keep players and hotel guests fed at any hour. The addition of full alcohol service, which required approval from both the US Bureau of Indian Affairs and Minnesota's Department of Public Safety, has added a more complete bar experience to the dining and gaming floor.

Pool and Spa

The spa offers massages, facials, and body treatments in a full-service facility. The indoor pool is available to hotel guests year-round. The Meadows at Mystic Lake is an acclaimed 18-hole championship golf course adjacent to the hotel, set amid 11 acres of wildflowers and prairie plants with bentgrass fairways and greens. LaunchPad Golf, a 25,000-square-foot two-story golf entertainment facility opened mid-2025, adds a Topgolf-style experience with 40 heated golf suites, a 160,000-square-foot driving range, two bars, a restaurant, and capacity for 500 visitors.

Entertainment

The Mystic Showroom is Mystic Lake's established live entertainment venue, hosting concerts, comedy, and performances from a consistently strong calendar of touring artists. Alison Krauss, David Spade, and a broad range of country, rock, and comedy acts have appeared on recent schedules.

The biggest entertainment development on the horizon is the Mystic Lake Amphitheater. The tribe broke ground in August 2025 on a 19,000-seat outdoor venue managed by Live Nation, which will make it the largest outdoor concert venue in Minnesota when it opens in 2026. It will dramatically expand the entertainment footprint of the property and draw headline artists to Prior Lake that the market has not seen at this scale before.

The property is also a proud Minnesota Vikings partner, with a prominent presence at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.

Verdict

Mystic Lake Casino Hotel is Minnesota's premier casino resort and the largest gaming destination in the Midwest by slot count. The scale of the gaming floor, the 766-room hotel, the championship golf course, the new LaunchPad Golf facility, and the incoming 19,000-seat amphitheater combine to create a full-scale destination resort that has been growing steadily for over three decades.

The absence of craps and roulette reflects Minnesota's tribal gaming compact rather than any shortcoming of the property, and visitors from other casino markets should factor that into expectations. The lack of a retail sportsbook is a more notable gap that may close as the legislative environment evolves. But for sheer scale, convenience from the Twin Cities, and the depth of amenities on offer, Mystic Lake remains in a category of its own in the Minnesota market.
