I have been a writer and editor for more than two decades, and also worked as a journalism and English teacher for 13 years. Much of my work focuses on casino gaming and poker, but I also write about travel, business, history, news, and other areas. I learned to play poker by playing in my father’s home game beginning in about the seventh grade.
When not playing poker, I may be found at the craps table in a casino or betting on American football. Writing about gaming has been fun as there are always some interesting characters and stories to cover.
I generally cover different games, with some insight on how to play the game and what to expect when taking a seat at these games in a casino or online.
Experience, Education, Qualifications, and Significant Achievements
As a full-time freelance writer and editor, my work has covered all aspects of the casino, online gaming, and poker industries. I especially enjoy writing about unique personalities. I like to keep up with the trends and look for interesting aspects that might resonate with readers. I also enjoy writing about history and the outdoors.
While I am a native Texan, my family and I moved to the mountains of Ruidoso, New Mexico. We live in Lincoln County at about 7,5000 feet elevation and there are so many outdoors activities here. When not working I enjoy hiking and just getting outdoors. I also enjoy recreational poker and reading. I am a supporter of the Texas Aggies and Dallas Cowboys football teams as well as the Dallas Stars hockey team. I love football and can be found on the couch watching games most Sundays. I also follow the Stars throughout the hockey season. Reading non-fiction books by authors like Mark Bowden, John Karakauer, David Grann, and others along those lines is also one of my pastimes. Traveling is also a big part of my life and my family and I once spent a month in Puerto Rico. Latin America is a big interest of mine, both for travel and history.
