  2. Tropicana Atlantic City
  3. Resorts Casino Hotel
  4. Bally's Atlantic City
  5. Harrah's Resort Atlantic City

Methodology

Tripadvisor reviews from the casinos and hotels in Atlantic City, New Jersey, were analyzed for the frequency of keywords indicating an unsafe or dangerous experience. The words tracked in the reviews are violent, aggressive, scary, unsafe, and dangerous.

Ocean Casino Resort

With many of the reviews on Trip Advisor for the casino being 1-star, visitors find Ocean Casino to be the most dangerous casino in Atlantic City. Various violent incidents have been reported, including a guest being stabbed to death in his hotel room in 2022.

In December 2023, a gang of teenagers carjacked an elderly man in the Ocean Casino Resort parking garage. Overall, this hotel casino was rated 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Tropicana Atlantic City

Tropicana Atlantic City is another casino that has raised safety concerns among Tripadvisor reviewers. Visitors are not happy with its position on the boardwalk and have safety concerns at night. Another carjacking by two teenagers took place here in August 2023, with a woman being held up in the Tropicana’s parking garage.

Resorts Casino Hotel

Resorts Casino is ranked as the third most dangerous casino in Atlantic City, as per Tripadvisor reviews. In a particularly brazen incident, a visitor was robbed while playing slots. The suspect took $1,500 in cash and was able to flee the casino in a car with a female driver.

Bally's Atlantic City

Bally's Atlantic City has also been identified as a casino with some safety issues. The beginning of 2024 saw two separate murders occur on New Year’s Day in the casino hotspot. The first victim was found on the walkway across from Bally's Atlantic City.

The Johnny Rocket's restaurant at Bally's saw a fatal shooting in March 2023, with the victim being pronounced dead at the scene.

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City completes our list of the top five most dangerous casinos in Atlantic City. While reviewers have praised the casino's amenities and services, incidents have been reported, including one on Thanksgiving Day in 2022. Three local men were involved in a stabbing at the Harrah’s Pool that saw multiple people injured. Fortunately, none of the stabbings were fatal at that time.

The Safest Casinos in Atlantic City

Atlantic City has a total of nine casinos. The remaining four safest casinos in Atlantic City in order from least to most dangerous, are:

How to Stay Safe at Atlantic City Casinos

For visitors who want to enjoy Atlantic City’s casinos, there is hope for the city. Security cameras have been installed and the city plans to add 1,000 more to the already 3,000 cameras covering the area. It remains to be seen if this will be a deterrent, however, as the New Year murders occurred in areas already covered by cameras.

To mitigate risks, visitors should always remain aware of their surroundings, especially in parking garages and late at night. Choose safer alternatives and check reviews before visiting a casino in Atlantic City.

Many incidents happen late at night so be aware when out and about on the boardwalk during these hours. Despite the glitz and allure of the boardwalk, it's essential to stay vigilant due to the city's high crime rates.
